Driving is very dangerous and there are many precautions you must take before driving a car. The importance of drivers ed reduces the number of deaths driving amongst many teens greatly. There are many steps that can be taken to reduce the number of driving related deaths. Being a young driver, I have experienced many people driving irresponsibly. Drivers ed can help many people become more experienced and be safer on the roads.

Drivers ed is mostly important because it teaches young individuals like myself the basics of driving. Drivers ed also enlightens young drivers how to be responsible, confident, and make them aware of their surroundings. This course gives students a clear understanding of driving on the road, rather than picking up knowledge as they go. Having prior knowledge can reduce the potential for driving related deaths.

The steps that can be taken to reduce driving related deaths consist of being responsible and knowing when you or someone else isn’t capable of driving under certain circumstances. Keeping a reasonable number of people in your vehicle can reduce the number of distractions that can further escalate to deaths related to driving. Keeping your cell phone away while driving at all times is another major step that can be taken to keep yourself and others on the road safe.

My personal family experience has had a major impact on my driving experience. Losing my aunt to a drunk driver has taught me a major lesson that everyone should be aware of. Driving while under the influence can be life threatening and should never be taken lightly. Being aware of your surroundings at all times on the road is very important as well as never getting behind the wheel when under the influence.

The steps that I can take to better myself as a driver would be to keep my phone on do not disturb at all times while driving, as well as making sure my passengers have their seatbelts on at all times while in the car.
Driving is a big responsibility that should not be taken lightly. Everyone should always be alert and be aware of the precautions to take while driving.
