Driving Safe Steps

Some steps I can take to be a better driver are going the speed limit. If I am driving the speed limit I will be a safe driver to not only myself, but to other drivers as well. When you are speeding and get into an accident there is more damage that may occur. Speeding has been involved in one third of all motor vehicle fatalities.

Another step I can take is to also be focus on the road while I am driving and eliminate distractions. Something that is a distraction when a person is driving is a cell phone. A report says that cell phone use while driving leads to 1.6 million crashes each year. If a person stays on their phone they’ll never be aware of their surroundings while driving which can cause a crash. The safest thing I can do while driving is to avoid looking at my phone and keep it out of sight.

Another distraction that can happen while driving is drinking and driving. Getting behind the wheel after consuming alcohol is a serious crime and can be dangerous to other drivers. Driving requires the ability to concentrate and make good judgment and alcohol affects those skills. A report shows almost 30 people die in drunk driving crashes in a day.

Being a safe driver can be beneficial to everyone on the road. I can take a step closer to eliminate all the fatalities that occur in car crashes and potentially save lives.
