The Importance of Drivers ed-Following Safety Rules

y experience with driving has been throughout the years from learning how to drive to several driving accidents from different perspectives.

Many years ago I learned how to drive in my grandfather’s old pickup truck in Northern Virginia. I was thirteen years old and my grandfather taught me to drive because he was getting up there in age and need me to run to the corner store to get groceries or whatever was needed. Even though I was not of legal age to drive I did so through the country on a dirt road probably about 3-4 miles to the store. I was very careful not to disobey any of the rules that were taught. Eyes straight ahead to make sure I had my seat belt on in case I hit a bump in the road and stay in the proper lane.

As I grew older at 16 we attended a “DRIVERS Education Class in High School. I aced it because of my previous experience with driving and parking. BUT I did not know the legal rules. Here is where I learned all the requirements for “SAFE” driving. Once I was done with this class I was ready to take my driving test at the state driving license division. I received my license and ready to drive on the road legally. Since that time I have experience, I have become aware of the importance of speed limits, right aways at a four-way stop to the importance of traffic lights. How it affects not just myself but it is for the safety of all on the road or just even outside. These rules save lives and prevent deaths on the road not just for others all drivers, bikers, and pedestrians. I am glad to be alive to see another day because I was hit by a drunk driver once while riding my bike and another time driving in my car.

Please don’t drink and drive and follow all required traffic rules to save your life and another persons life.

All Rules are created for a reason,
