The Responsibility of Driving

The Responsibility Of Driving

Understanding the relevance of every action people take daily, allows them to become aware of the serious and irrevocable implications as a result of both conscious and unconscious behaviors. A simple action such as driving a car can easily turn into a tragedy if the driver does not focus on the drive correctly. Is crucial to realize how vulnerable everyone is to be affected by a car accident; both for the person who causes it and the victim of the event. Wearing a seatbelt, avoiding distractions, ignoring texts and calls, and following the traffic rules are effortless ways to prevent a terrible situation. Being responsible, careful, and safe involves assuming an attitude in which you show respect for yourself and others lives.

According to different studies, investigations have proved in many cases that car accidents could have been prevented if the driver had paid attention to simple elements such as controlling the speed limit and ignoring social media notifications that popped in their phones. It has been normalized to answer calls, respond to text messages, schedule appointments and scroll into social media while driving; however, this series of actions could become the main reason why someone crashes their car. It has also become extremely common to apply makeup, take a selfie, and read an article while driving the car with your family and friends aboard. It is clear that people do not intend to purposely create a terrible crash that includes deaths, permanent injuries, and other damages, but not correcting distracting behaviors and continuing old dangerous patterns contribute directly to a higher risk to get into a car accident.

Simultaneously, it is relevant to highlight that even though breaking bad habits it is not comfortable, it will be worth it once society realizes that those plain decisions are saving lives. Society needs to learn to take action to prioritize general safety. Driving seems to be an easy task for everyone; however, people tend to ignore the immense responsibility that comes within. Different studies have also reflected the negative impact of the use of phones while driving because it slows down parts of the brain and reduces its activity essentially needed for a focused drive. Texting, applying makeup, and answering phone calls are not the only ways to end up causing a car accident; also driving under the effects of substances such as alcohol or drugs and speeding are relevant sources of car accidents.

Driving a car requires a mature and fully conscious attitude in which the driver is committed to respecting his/her own life as much as everyone else that is around. Driving a car might be perceived as a task that does not involve a lot of thinking, but in fact, is an action that requires a serious obligation to prevent deathly tragedies. As a society that is constantly evolving, it is critical to promote, inform, and establish decisive rules to make people conscious of their actions and consequences as a significant shift and transformation in peoples daily behavior.
