The rippling effect of safe driving
Recently,
a youtube star by the name of Corey La Barrie passed away due to a
single-vehicle accident. He was in the car with a drunk driving
passenger that fatally made a wrong turn. Even though I did not know
him personally, his passing still affected me. As a fan of his for a
very long time this unfortunate event makes me feel like a sliver of
me is missing. His career, passion, and, life comes to a halt. All we
have now are photographs and youtube videos. Thinking about how this
may have affected his friends and family makes my stomach turn. Even
though his spirit will lay in the hearts of many people, I can’t
help but think that this event could have been avoided.
To
stay clear of awful events like that one, we should push for a better
Drivers ed system. To reach this goal we must first
encourage a great mass of people to also push for a better Driver’s
Education system. This issue can’t be solved with a few people we
have to reach others. In this age of social media, we should be using
it to spread the word and making safety the hottest ‘trend’. We
acknowledge safe driving too nonchalantly. It’s time we walk hand
and hand with it wherever we go on the road.
According
to policyadvice. Net, 1.35
million people die in road accidents worldwide every year. If we
could save only 3% of that we would be saving 40,500 people! Saving
enough people to fill up a stadium would be a great day no matter who
you are asking. So, to make a change we must work together.
