Safe Driving

Numerous people lose their lives to careless acts of driving therefore drivers ed is necessary to take if you plan on driving. Drivers ed prepares you for what you should expect on the road, the skills and attitude you need to possess while driving, and more importantly how to drive for yourself and others around you. Also, it is noted a higher percentage of young adults who have not taken drivers training gain more tickets compared to one that has completed a course of drivers ed. Drivers ed is the foundation needed for young adults to succeed in driving.

Drivers ed needs to be changed from an option to a requirement for an individual to obtain their license. There are too many deaths caused by reckless driving and it is simply because some individuals were not taught the correct way to drive. Yes, I already know some individuals simply cannot afford drivers ed. Therefore, we need programs in place that can aid those who struggle financially. Another step that needs to be taken to reduce the number of deaths while driving is raising fines. Money gets everyone’s attention and people would be upset if they had to pay more for careless driving. As a result, they will practice more safe driving because they would hate to pay those expensive fees. Money is something that is highly valued in America and when people value something they do everything in their will not to lose it.

My first car accident was in 2018, I was rear ended in the back of my car and it caused my body to be sore because of how fast the car hit me from the back. The lady came to my car and the first thing she said to me was “I am so sorry; I was not paying attention.” I forgave the lady and told her it was vital that she pays attention on the road because she could have cost me my life. I have also been in the car with friends and they were driving irresponsibly. As a result of being in a car accident I reminded them the dangers of driving irresponsibly. They agreed with me, turned down the music and put their phone down. It is vital that we hold others accountable for their careless actions unless they will never learn.

I practice safe driving every time I am behind the wheel. I do not listen to music loud; I silence my phone and focus on the road, so I am aware of other drivers. In addition, I prepare my younger siblings to be ready for when they start driving by showing them what to do when they are behind the wheel. Driving is not one of the easiest tasks that is why we must work together to put an end to the amount of people dying to reckless driving.
