Drivers ed Safety
As a soon to be driver on the road, my mother is extremely worried about me driving on the road and making it home safe. Many parents can agree with the question, is my child going to a safe driver on the road? Along with many other questions like ‘what can help my child be a safer driver on the roads?’
In the U.S., there are thirty-two states that require teens 15 to 18 years of age to be enrolled in Drivers ed in order to take the written drivers test and get their license. As a student enrolled in drivers ed online, I am learning things about driving safety, road signs, and being prudent with surroundings.
As a driver, always being cautious with your surroundings are extremely important. Most accidents are caused by distractions in the car and trains. With new technology improvements many are distracted by their phones while driving, whether it is making a quick call, texting, and or even changing the music. Nearly 1 out of 4 car crashes a year are caused by eyes on the phone. But, not only is the phone a factor of accidents but so are Trains.
Drivers ed has a precise chapter about testing trains while driving. Driving school teaches their students that trains are faster than what they appear and it takes the trains roughly a mile and a half just to be able to come to a complete stop.
With all these small facts that the diverse education system teaches, could save many future driver lives. Several believe that the course just teaches you how to drive but it also teaches you how to be cautious and aware of your surroundings. Not only can it save themselves but also their friends, family, and pedestrians outside the vehicle.
While a driver is being cautious, they are not only watching for animals and other drivers but also the pedestrians that don’t watch for cars while walking into the road, or the children while like to play in the street.
On the online drivers ed class, a video had popped up on my screen with a young driving telling his story. He was with his friends, a week before they had graduation, dancing and listening to music in a moving car. Luckily he was paying attention when a child had ran out in the middle of the road and he was able to stop in time, letting the child safely walk across the road. Even Though there was no severe accident in this case, many accidents still across with a not so happy ending. Drivers ed is teaching drivers to stay prudent while in a vehicle and on foot.
Driving school not only helps new drivers keep safe actions while behind the wheel but can also give some happy thoughts to the parents who worry about their children driving on the roads. Drivers ed helps ensure safety to drivers and can reduce the amount of reported accidents that occur every year, one of the many reasons why Drivers ed is required in most of the United States.
