Driving Safety

Driver education is the only thing keeping our new generation of drivers safe. Driving can be one of the most dangerous forms of transportation, since there are a plethora of distractions and poor choices made behind the wheel that could cause an accident. Having access and the ability to get driver education can help keep everyone safe. A trained instructor can teach a student proper driving techniques, and rules that will ensure the safety of yourself and others. Driving instructors can also educate on the importance to not text and drive, which is a rising issue with new drivers. Deaths related to driving are a constant issue all over, but making sure the road laws are being practiced can benefit. I feel like police should be more aware of bad driving, especially in rural areas where people tend to be more lenient. It’s important to punish others who text and drive, or are under the influence because they are jeopardizing the safety of others. The government should try to make laws that will allow police to suspend your license for texting and driving, since we don’t have a law like that where I live. I have seen car accidents and I’ve known someone whose parents would drive under the influence of alcohol. The fear and stress that is on a person is indescribable. I have also seen many people text while driving, which would cause them to almost crash. It’s a terrifying experience that needs to be stopped. Now I am still trying to get my permit and learn the rules of the road, but I’m going to make sure that I never drive distracted. I will always turn off my phone whenever I am behind the wheel so I won’t notice it. I will also remember to watch out for the people around me to make sure that I am not a victim of an accident.
