Pro’s and Con’s of point A to B
Not just a young age but 16-80 years old, driving is extremely dangerous but essential to our daily life! And with something so common and useful can come countering outcomes, for example, a mother so excited that her children are picking up a new sport so she takes them on her way. On said way, she gets caught up in the conversation of the excitement of the children and smashes into the back of a mack truck! This goes to show that even at a simple task at hand mistakes can always happen and that could lead to fatal outcomes but having such a cautious and paranoid mother, she taught me some of her tips and tricks on the road.
The first step I was ever taught was to prepare myself for the road, so if I wanted music I’d set a playlist the night before or if I had on heels, I’d either drive barefoot or with flats! The next step and the most important is to be cautious on the road and to look out for yourself and others! That means instead of booking it at a greenlight you’d hesitate, or keep a close eye on children on the curb (especially with bikes) and my most relatable would be if you’re going through a residential and you see the adult come out with children relatables or any sort, keep a close eye for those unpredictables to pop out an any time! Explaining a driving guid like this to someone not used to drinking would think that you’re absolutely ridiculous, but in all reality this is the true reality of driving! Having to be cautious almost every second of the minute is completely crucial because I promise that one miss calculation, that one text, or that one sentence of a conversation can not just cost you your life, but trauma.
I write this speaking from experience! On February 22, 2021 I totaled my very first buggie, to most people they take car accidents as to if the person is ok but for me it was more than that. It was my personal calculation, it was my incorrect decision at that point in time, and the worst part is that I made that decision to pull out from my own judgement that I thought was correct. So for me to try and tell my peers that smoking, eating, touching, reaching while driving isn’t ok is a slap in the face to someone that made an intentional huge mistake. So in order to prevent the same ptsd from teens my age I really hope you listen with your heart!
