The Importance of Driver Education

 The Importance of Driver Education

The significance of driver education is that it enables drivers to fully understand traffic rules so that they can drive safely and avoid causing accidents. Receiving driver education is the first step toward obtaining a driver’s license. In my opinion, it is important how the drivers understand and remember the traffic rules. Driver education allows people to practice driving while receiving lessons from a driving instructor. The driving instructor can teach the learner how to drive safely and inform the driver about all of the common mistakes that many people make. Drunk driving is one of the leading causes of car accidents in South Korea. Although drivers are aware that drunk driving is illegal, they choose to disregard this traffic rule because the penalty is not severe. In addition, some drivers tend to speed through yellow traffic lights. They take this risk because they don’t want to wait for the next traffic signal. Furthermore, some cars just simply popped up from the corner of a street, which is extremely dangerous if other vehicles do not notice the cars. A few years ago, I witnessed a bus colliding with a car on the street. The location where they crashed was right around the corner. The bus was traveling straight when the car emerged from the corner to turn left. It was a precarious moment. Thankfully, no one died in that accident. I believe that if people fully recognize the danger and loss of car accidents, there would be far fewer accidents.

I look forward to the day when traffic regulations change and result in fewer accidents and fewer deaths. I sincerely hope that the penalties for drunk driving become more severe in many countries, as this will help people to recognize the seriousness of the problem. Furthermore, it would be awesome if there is a sign reminding the drivers not to rush through the yellow traffic light. In this manner, pedestrians can be prepared to cross the street without the fear of being hit by a car. Furthermore, building a car-approaching reminder machine at the intersections of some streets would be extremely beneficial. This is because both pedestrians and cars can be alerted as to whether or not a car is coming out. Although the signs will be costly to construct, human lives are unquestionably more important than money.

While all of the signs would be beneficial, the primary responsibility remains with the drivers. They should make it a habit to always observe their surroundings as they are driving. Not only must drivers exercise caution while driving, but they must also maintain their cars in shape. Divers must remember to replace their tires every 6 years, regardless of the number of miles they have driven. This is due to the fact that the condition of the tires is the key to safe driving. The drivers also need to keep in mind to change the engine oil once every 6 to 12 months. It is critical to have clean windshields and rear-view mirrors as well. A clear view allows drivers to see things clearly. Drivers should use the blinkers when they are not driving straight so that other drivers can understand their intentions. They are the primary means of communication for the drivers. I believe that with small changes, we will reap large benefits.

Thankfully, no one I know has ever been in a car accident, nor has anyone I know ever driven recklessly. However, I have seen some people driving irresponsibly while walking down the street or taking public transportation. I am very grateful that the people I know are fully aware of all traffic regulations, and that they try to drive as safely as possible. I am planning on taking a driving test to obtain my driver’s license, and I will ensure that I am familiar with and understand all traffic laws. As I drive, I will constantly remind myself to be vigilant. My goal in driving is to become proficient enough to avoid accidents. Thus, I plan to practice driving whenever I have time. I am also not going to drive when I consume alcohol. In addition, if I see a drunk driver, I will immediately report it to the police. It’s extremely frustrating to witness accidents that could have been avoided if drivers had remained more alert. I am definitely going to park my car in proper locations because I am aware that some accidents may occur if the car is parked in an inappropriate location. Since motorcycles are notorious for running red lights, I will remember to keep an eye on them. While driving, I intend to put my phone away because I do not want to lose my focus. Being a good example, in my opinion, is the first step in motivating people to begin doing something. I’m looking forward to assisting others in driving safely by setting a good example myself.
