Driving Education

Driving Education

Driver education is an extremely important part of driver safety. Drivers’ education teachers you the rules of the road, what the signs mean, to drive offensively and defensively. Drivers’ education teachers you to always scan your surroundings, and not to stay fixated on one spot.

People need to understand the importance to wear a seatbelt even in the back seat. I’ve seen people opt out of wearing their seatbelt because they were in the back. Also, people need to use their signal, to ensure there’s enough space for them to get over to avoid cutting other cars off. That’s a big issue here in Houston. Another issue is road rage. Perhaps when people go to get their license renewed, the DMV test peoples anger management level. Road rage is extremely dangerous and it’s getting out of control.

Some steps that can be taken to reduce unsafe driving school programs that show the consequences of unsafe driving. Videos, pictures, and even a simulator where teenage drivers can be in an interactive video game to see what it is like to get into a car bad accident and the physical consequences of that. Phone companies could make phones that don’t work if the car is in motion. The car will have to be stopped to work. Also, inmates in jail for drunk driving should talk to teenagers, and people that have been injured in the accident. Perhaps for tickets over a certain speed, the driver should have to watch simulator funerals. Bartenders should buy law, limit service of drinks that’s it. Also, it should be lol that people that drink and bars can’t leave until two or so hours after their last drink unless they have a designated driver, or an Uber set up.

I have never witnessed a terrible accident in person, but I have seen them on the news a friend of my neighbors’ boyfriend was killed because of texting and driving, and my family was in traffic during the aftermath. We saw the car on the tow truck. It was devastating to see. People at school have been killed in car accidents due to excessive speeds. I see others texting and driving and their reaction time is far slower when you’re focused on your phone. My mom, my brother and I were in an accident that was very scary but none of us were hurt. It was raining very hard. It was a four-way stop. The lady ran a stop sign and T-bones. She’s in band us on the backside of our car, by the trunk. She totaled her car. She lied and saw the sheriff that we hit her car, but the investigation and evidence showed that she hit us.

In conclusion driving is a privilege, not a right. It’s an amazing soul to get back and forth but should be reserved for responsible people so they’re innocent people don’t get hurt because of other people’s lack of responsibility and empathy for the safety of themselves and others.
