Driving Education Importance

Driver education is something that is very important and should be taken very seriously. Driving is a serious event that could possibly lead to death. Driver education can help prevent dangerous accidents from happening. While taking a driver education course, you learn all of the rules of driving. These rules are very important to keep everyone including yourself safe. You are also taught how to prepare yourself to become aware of how a short amount of time becoming distracted can lead to dangerous situations within the blink of an eye. Educating students about the importance of remaining focused on the task at hand while driving can help reduce the number of deaths that occur each year because of driving accidents.

There are many ways to reduce the number of deaths that may occur while driving, I can make sure that I keep both hands on the wheel at the proper places. I need to make sure that I do not get distracted by a phone, the radio, and even anyone else riding in the car. I do not need anything to make me take my eyes off the road. Oftentimes when you are driving you also have to watch out for the other cars just as much as yourself. You never know what is going on in another vehicle with a different driver. This is when defensive driving is very important. You have to make sure that you are focused and paying attention to the road. You have to be a defensive driver.

All of the experiences and car accidents that I have seen could have easily been prevented. Most of the incidents I have encountered have been dealing with a phone. Sometimes they are not even looking at them, but they may have fallen into the passenger seat and the person’s attention immediately goes to that. It needs to be taught that sometimes lives may seem like they revolve around our phones, but literally we need to pay attention to the road. Many teenagers that are my age are seen leaving the school parking lot with their phones in their hands. One time as I was following a car home, I saw they had their phone in their hand not realizing that their vehicle was rolling. This caused them to roll forward and rear end the car in front of them. Thankfully nobody was hurt by this accident, but it is a huge eye opener. Bumping into a car is a big deal. It is crazy how such a small device can leave such a big impact on one’s life. If too much of your attention is drawn towards the phone, you may forget what you are doing.

To become a better and safer driver, I need to make sure that all my attention is focused on the road. All of the things that I have experienced and witnessed will be a reminder of why not to get distracted. The first thing that I can do when I get in my car is put my phone face down where I will not be focused on it and turn the notifications off. I can then turn my radio to a station and a volume that will not be distracting my driving and leave the radio alone. When I begin to drive, I can make sure that I am obeying the correct speed, but also make sure that people around me are remaining in their lanes. A way that I can help other people be safe drivers is by telling them how important it is to drive safely. Reminding them how dangerous driving can be will help them be more aware while driving. Another way is when I am riding with them, I can make sure that they do not have their phone in their hand. If I notice that their attention is not fully focused on the road I will tell them to please be aware because at this time you are responsible for me in your car. This will make them notice that someone else notices that they are not fully focused on what they should be focused on. If I was in the passenger seat with someone I would tell them that I can send their text message that they need to be sent so that they can focus on the road.

In conclusion, I am very thankful that driver’s education is a required course. It is important that everyone pays close attention to detail while they are driving. Any little thing that goes wrong could affect your life. It is important that you remember all the rules for driving. Make sure you look both ways more than once, check all your mirrors, and do not get distracted. Mistakes are very common while driving and it is important that we make these mistakes known so that they can be fixed as soon as possible to keep the roads safe and people alive.
