Accident Prevention
Driver’s education is the basis to prepare you to start driving. Nowadays people tend to brush off the importance of getting an education for driving. They ignore the fact that before taking and doing something, you need knowledge about it beforehand. They didn’t realize that driving is a privilege, not a right. Or the consequences of driving without the correct knowledge. The world is already overpopulated, and over 229 million people drive in the United States. Having the proper knowledge when driving will make the world a little safer. Young drivers believe that because there are so many drivers or that they haven’t been in any accidents, that they can drive without knowing the rules of the road. Not acknowledging the driver’s education teaches things that used to try and control the chaos of driving.
Without driver’s education they won’t learn the meanings of the things that keep us safe while driving. They won’t know what all of the road signs mean (signs that are used to warn/protect them and others.), what turns they can and cannot make, when or what beams they should use in certain situations, hand signals, what to do when other drivers compromise their safety, what to do when there’s an emergency vehicle, what this lines and the colors mean, what to do when a part of your car breaks down and compromises yours/others safety, the meaning of each traffic light, right of way, etc. Not knowing even a few of these things on such busy roads puts yourself, other drivers, and pedestrians in danger. Drivers that haven’t completed their driver’s education or didn’t take it seriously are the reason that younger drivers are seventy-five percent more probable to get a ticket, twenty-four percent more likely to suffer from injuries or fatalities, and sixteen percent more likely to be involved in an accident.
Steps that can be taken to reduce the amounts of deaths are lower the speed of how fast certain cars can go, paying more attention/learning all or most roads signs, pay attention to the roads instead of other less important things, driving when you are rested and pulling to the side if you are tired, following the rules of the road, following the three second rule, not drinking and drinking, and being patient. I’ve seen drivers at many intersections or long pathways of road, racing or just plain old speeding just to only cut a few seconds or minutes of the time to their destination. When doing this a lot of the time they are blind to the incoming car that has the right away, they either T-bone the car or try to slam on their brakes and end up crashing. If they would have slowed down, paid attention to the traffic lights and cars, it would have prevented the possibly fatal accident. Cars that race each other have slammed into other cars forcing them of their course. This could be averted if cars didn’t race or did it in a more secluded area (to put less people in danger. While in my mom’s car I’ve witnessed other cars not pay attention to a road sign telling whether or not they could turn, and they were t-boned or hit a pedestrian. Which could have been avoided if they just read the sign properly. A few months ago this guy behind my mom wasn’t following the three second rule and he was on his phone. He didn’t see that we had stopped, luckily my mom was paying attention and was able to keep her foot on the brake and prepare us. He slammed into the back of us. This probably happens to a lot of cars especially if they’re speeding. This type of accident could have been avoided if he followed the three second rule, and was off his phone and paid attention to the road. Earlier in the year my mom had the right of way when turning, but this car ran a red light and almost hit her. She said the car didn’t look like they would stop, so she didn’t turn. If my mom wasn’t paying attention I could have died or been fatally injured. Instances happen like that all the time that kill people. If the drivers were just patient, following the traffic light and right of way, various unnecessary accidents could be prevented.
Many males that I have gotten in the car with, sped a lot and would drive with one hand on the wheel while using their phone. It terrifies me and gives me panic attacks. That is why I am such a stickler when it comes to following the rules of the road. Whenever someone gets in the car with me or I get in their car, I always tell them to put on their seatbelt. That little bit of precaution could possibly save their life. When they are not paying attention to traffic lights I make sure to relay what they light shows. When they are on their phone texting or are trying to talk on the phone. I take their phone and text whatever they tell me too, and I will put their call on speaker and hold their phone. I try to pay attention to our surroundings that they might not see, and warn them if I see someone doing that could possibly put us in danger. When the driver can’t locate where the emergency vehicle is coming from, I scan the area so I can tell them so they can take the proper precautions.
