Safety First
Driver education is important to driver safety. Without it, drivers may be a hazard to other drivers and even themselves. Without proper road knowledge, drivers may not know when to merge, how to check to change lanes, or what the harmful effects driving under the influence may cause. They can be dangerous to themselves if they are not focused on or are unknowledgeable in driving. A driver without proper knowledge may not know when to turn, how to park, how to check for bikers and pedestrians, etc. In some instances, they may lack the proper knowledge of what to do in the event of an accident or crash. It is unfair to let drivers who do not know the rules and hazards of driving endanger others. Other drivers and pedestrians are at risk of dangerous drivers even more so because they do not know what other people are thinking. If someone makes an authorized lane switch or does not check before pulling out, they may cause a crash. Inexperienced drivers need to always be aware of their surroundings to protect everyone, including themselves. Some methods for reducing deaths related to driving include making driver education a required class in school. Making inexperienced drivers submit essays such as this on the effects of driving and precautions or hazards involved in driving. Safety is most important. Drivers need to know how to stay safe and keep others around them, drivers, and pedestrians, as safe as possible. More methods for reducing driving-related accidents may include reducing how much people drive in general. People who live in small towns that are close together or in bigger more crowded areas should reduce how much they drive, instead choosing to walk, ride a bike, or take a bus. Driving may be more convenient, but it is also more dangerous. Less experienced drivers are even more of a risk because they do not have any knowledge of what to do in certain situations. Drivers may speed over hills or around hills and could cause very dangerous accidents. The world would be safer if drivers were more informed of the laws, and everyone followed them properly. I have been in multiple accidents with my parents. A driver pulled into our lane and hit the driver’s side door. Another time a driver rear-ended our car. A driver hit us once because they were on their phone and totaled our car. Even experienced drivers can cause accidents. I have also seen family members driving unsafely. On multiple occasions, I have seen my grandmother and aunt pull out without looking, change lanes without properly texting, and even text while driving. I have seen my mother and father run red lights and I have seen family members falling asleep at the wheel. One time, my mom totaled her car because she was texting and driving and hit someone from behind. I have had grandparents who have lost some care about road rules and will drive unsafely and speedily. Many times, we have had near misses with other cars either they or we weren’t paying proper attention to the road. I have been at fault a few times as well. A have stalled my car before while driving. I have pulled onto streets and out parking spaces without looking. I have drifted into other lanes as well. Steps I can take to be a safer driver are ensuring I follow the rules of the road properly. I need to make sure I am properly informed of the laws and any techniques to make sure I drive safely. I can help others be safer drivers by making sure they are also informed on anything related to the safety of driving. Making sure they aren’t distracted while driving either with their phone or by other passengers is another way to make sure other drivers are safe. Making sure I’m always vigilant while driving is also important if there is a dangerous driver nearby, I need to make sure and distance myself or others just to be safe. Watching out for pedestrians and bikers is also important. Keeping an eye out for them is a top priority in the safety of everyone. I need to make sure and always be vigilant even if I am not driving, spotting any hazards or dangerous drivers for the driver of the vehicle. Anytime I am walking I need to be mindful of drivers as well to protect my own life and the life of others around me. Safety is the top priority whether you’re driving, riding, or walking along.
