Safe Driving

Being cautious, vigilant, and checking surrounding mirrors are all important steps for safe driving. These are some of the steps which one will learn while attending driver education school. This school is very important as it teaches its students everything they need to know about safe driving. These are actions which if forgotten, may unfortunately result in the loss of a life. Because of this, it is very crucial that all drivers take this course in order to prevent a tragedy from happening. Thankfully, I have never been in an accident or lost someone from my family due to an accident. Unfortunately, I do have people that I personally know of who have lost their lives while being on the road. Some of the lives that have been lost were a result of driving while tired, passing stop signs, speeding, etc. These are all deaths which could have been avoided but sadly, lives were taken. A wife was left without her husband, a parent without a daughter who graduated high school a few years prior, etc. The pain that was caused to these people is unbearable. It is a pain that could have been avoided if all drivers drove responsibly. Due to this, drivers all around the world must ask themselves if they truly are responsible drivers. Many people may answer “yes, I am a responsible driver.” However, when asked questions about whether they speed, pass stop lights, or maybe even wear a seatbelt, some answers may consist of “yes, no, sometimes” or even an “I was in a rush on my way to work.” The truth is, there is no excuse when it comes to driving recklessly. No few minutes to spare is worth a life being lost. No job is worth a life being lost. Nothing is worth a life being lost. In fact, there is never a time where driving irresponsibly will be an enough reason to put a life at risk. People are always going to find reasons on why they should speed, why they should pass lights, or why they shouldn’t wear a seat belt… So now I ask the question “Are you a responsible driver?” If you’re answer has changed from a yes to a “no” or “maybe,” then you need to take serious steps towards becoming a better driver so that you do not put your life or the lives of others at risk while behind the wheel. This may begin with you signing up for driving education school.

As I stated before, being cautious, vigilant, and checking surrounding mirrors, are all important steps to take for safe and better driving. These are some of the actions that though simple, make a great difference. Fatalities due to reckless driving are high and may be decreased if all drivers took the actions required in order to make sure they are driving responsibly. I know, some steps may sound too simple. To some, these steps listed may sound as if they won’t make a difference in anyone’s life. The steps may sound exaggerated or extreme. In fact, you may ask yourself, whose life you are going to risk if you don’t wear a seatbelt, speed a little, etc. You may say that you have never gotten in a car accident before, been pulled over, etc. However, I am here to tell you that all it takes is the blink of an eye for a car accident to occur which may result in an injury or worse, a life. Partners may be left spouseless, Children may be left fatherless, parents may be left without their child, etc. Ask yourselves if you are willing to put the pain of the loss of a loved one on your family or the families of the vehicles around you. To continue, now that I have mentioned some of the necessary actions one must do in order to be a safe driver, I ask you to share those actions with a friend or family member. Share with them how important it is to check their mirrors, wear a seatbelt, drive the speed limit, etc. If you go out with your friends or family on a road trip, be responsible and make sure that whoever is driving is doing these actions. If the driver is not being vigilant, you may offer to drive or give friendly reminders to ensure that the driver is aware of the importance of vigilance while driving. Make sure that not only the lives of passengers in the vehicle being driven are safe, but also that the lives of the passengers of the surrounding vehicles are safe as well. A friendly reminder is all it may take to save a tragedy from occurring and a life from being taken.
