Safe driving Save lives
In our lives, we all reach a certain age when it’s time to hit the road and start driving ourselves around. But before we begin there’s very important rules, regulation, and technique we need to learn to ensure safe and correct driving. We all want to go out driving with our friends, blasting music, doing teenage stuff but before you do that it’s crucial to consider that not only can this vehicle take you places it can also take a life, or seriously damage one. The cars don’t drive themselves, we do so learning the rules of the road are very important and can save your or another’s life while you’re driving. When we know what we’re doing we’re less likely to cause an accident, when you’ve practiced and trained you are more prepared to handle certain situations and pressure that could also lead to danger. There’s no such thing as too much knowledge of one such thing, so by doing driving training and studying, taking extra classes is an investment in your safety and should be greatly considered when first learning to drive. Things you can do to prevent accidents is one, follow the rules of the road, they are in place for a reason and that is to keep order on the road and everyone safe, so following them will not only help you but the others around you. It’s also important to keep a calm and level head when driving, we are all so quick to get mad we someone cuts us off or does something we don’t like, but getting even or causing them difficulties while driving too is not the way to go, anything can happen to you but since you’re clouded with rage you don’t see the huge consequences before you. It’s also key that we only drive sober, at absolutely no point in time should there be any mind and body altering drugs or alcohol in our systems, the lack of control you have over your decisions when under the influence is life-threatening for yourself but all the other drivers around you who will become victim to your careless and irresponsible decision to drive under the influence. Last year, on October 1st around one a.m my cousin passed away in a car accident. The accident was the result of the other driver running a red light and crashing into my cousin as she was driving. She was only nineteen years old, so it was very devastating and hard to hear the news of her losing her life so young, and just on the brink of truly beginning her life as a successful young woman, it was taken away in an instant. I constantly think about how since that person decided to disregard one simple rule, to just stop at the red light and wait for their turn to go, they killed an innocent girl and seriously injured others. They disobeyed one simple traffic rule and created the worst day of someone’s life, there’s no amount of sorries and repenting that could bring her back, and I feel as if that’s something people don’t take to heart as much as they should, once you decide to break that rule and drive like you’re the only one on the road it’s no going back, everything is already in motion and all that’s left will be the aftermath of your carless choice. All I hope for in the future is that people treat each other with more respect and regard, we all have to drive these streets so why not just do it with respect, care, and safety, to ensure no more families have to deal with the pain of losing a loved. I personally will do everything in my power to make sure I drive safely on the road, from studying extra hard and completing my driver’s course to actually practicing safe driving habits. I will never put mines or someone else’s life at risk just to get to my destination faster. Seeing firsthand how painful and frustrating it is to lose someone from careless driving I would never do that. Also with my new generation of drivers on the road there is a lot more distractions for us, but I will always advocate for safe driving among my peers and never let anyone I know drive when they clearly aren’t capable, it’s my responsibility as an able person to stop drunk and high driving when I see it, so I will. With just little acts like these of taking the keys away from someone who shouldn’t drive in their current state can do more good than you know, it’s never safe to risk that chance and always wonder “what if”, instead just act right then and there. The roads are not to be taken lightly so always stay prepared and alert when driving, follow the rules, and have patience, we’re all in this together.
