Safe Travels
Driver education is very important in ensuring that all drivers learn and know everything they need to in order to safely navigate any roadway they travel on. In order to even obtain a learners permit you must take a class and pass tests that prove your knowledge of the roads, signs, and all other aspects of driving. This is very important but being able to take that knowledge and apply it to behind the wheel is a whole different story. That is why after obtaining your learner’s permit, young drivers should safely start driving with a parent in order to gain experience which will better your driving skills even more making you a safer driver. If everyone becomes more educated in their driving skills and safely starts driving for more experience, this can in turn lower the amount of deaths and accidents that happen on a daily basis.
As mentioned before, gaining knowledge of driving and getting learning experience is very important in order to become a safe driver. However there are other steps you can take in order to become a safer driver before you even get onto the roads. Those steps include things such as checking your tire pressure, checking your oil levels, just basic maintenance in order to make sure that your car is safe and ready for the roads. If you fail to check on your tires every once in a while you might not notice that you have a nail in your tire which in turn causes your tire to burst while you are driving. This could end horribly with you crashing and injuring yourself or even other drivers which could have been prevented with basic maintenance of your vehicle that you can do yourself at home. Another step to being safer on the roads is to check the weather and see if it’s even safe to be driving. This is especially important in areas that get a lot of snow and ice. However even rain makes the roads slippery and can cause accidents. Therefore if the roads are not as safe as normal, you aren’t comfortable driving in certain conditions, or you don’t absolutely need to get out then save yourself a trip and stay home or stay where you are until it is safer for you to drive.
I have been in an accident before when I was 16 which was caused by a few things. Those include bald tires, low tire pressure, and wet roads. All of these could have been avoided if I took the time to think about if driving to go eat with friends was really worth it since it was raining, or if I would have taken the time to check my tire pressure and aired up my tires. The other thing I could have thought about was having someone else drive me since my tires were not in the best condition. Obviously getting fast food was not worth it so that is just a reminder to always think about the possibilities or consequences of driving if you or your vehicle is not safe to be on the road. All of this may be able to help make you a safer driver but it may not help others who chose to break laws and are reckless on the roads. Laws are in place for the safety of the people and to make sure that accidents do not happen. However there are some people on the roads that believe they are invincible and like to break the laws of the road or like to be reckless drivers. Some people just have bad habits that are just too hard to break and they will just continue to be reckless until they get into an accident and even then they may continue to be reckless. However you choose to be safe and become a better driver you will be able to keep yourself safe and stay out of the way of reckless drivers who choose not to follow laws.
There are always gonna be drivers that do not follow the laws of the roads and reckless drivers who think speeding and swerving through traffic is fun but as long as you can make sure you are doing everything you can to be as safe as possible for you and those around you then you have a step up from those reckless drivers. If young drivers can learn all of these skills and to be as safe as possible then the amount of accidents and deaths will start to decline. Sometimes accidents are truly just accidents even if no one was breaking the law or driving recklessly. However you can always go back and look at what caused the accident and see what could have been prevented so that the accident never happened in the first place. There are tons of things to know and learn about driving and doing it safely but if you try to learn more and more each day and practice those safe skills more and more, then the roads will just keep getting safer for everyone on them.
