How Can We be Safer While Driving?
Everyone is saying that we should let people do what they want but that is not the case when driving. We always must be safe when driving because you never know what is going to happen. If anything, more people should make sure that they are not on their phones when driving because that is all that they will be focused on. Some may say that they can still pay attention to the road when doing something else but that is not true at all once you are focused on something else besides driving then you are more likely to cause a car accident. In many cases the most important thing is to have few distractions when driving.
The most important thing about driver education in reducing the number of deaths because of driving is to always pay attention to where you are going and not be texting. The things that can be done is that many people get distracted, and some things could be better like not looking at their phone while driving. “Even before the rise of modern telecommunications, distracted driving has always been a major cause of automobile accidents” (Vitelli, p. 2). Some other things that are important about reducing the number of deaths with the result of driving is that everyone who is still learning to drive will be nervous and if people are distracted when they drive it could make that person not like driving and they will always be scared when they do. If people see that it is better to be safe, then it will help with the deaths that are caused when driving.
When we are distracted while driving it will be harder for things to get better. I have not been in an accident where my family has been driving irresponsibly but I have seen many accidents that have been caused by people being irresponsible and not paying attention when they are driving. Another thing that could help with reducing the number of deaths when driving is people should not be driving if they have drunk too much. “It’s not a question of whether you are legally intoxicated, it’s a question of whether or not it is safe to drive when you have consumed any amount of alcohol” (Buddy, p. 3). This is meaning that if you think that you have had too much to drink then it might not be safe to drive. Finally, we should always make sure that we are being safe when driving like if you have drunk too much.
Some ways that I could do to be a better and safer driver is that I can keep my eye on the road and make sure that if anything does happen that I am paying attention. Some things that I can do to help other is to tell them some ways to be safer like do not perform distracting tasks while driving. This is meaning that if you are someone who likes to multi-task while driving that is not always the safest thing to do because your focus is not on driving anymore. Another thing is that we should always make sure that we are wearing our seatbelts meaning that it will help with fewer deaths if in a car accident. Along with that we should always use child safety seats and making sure that they are in the back seat if they are young. One last thing that could be that you know where you are going meaning that you should have a travel plan.
In conclusion we should all be safe when driving even if you think that you already are. In many cases it is good to feel safe when you are driving because you will be more relaxed and not so stressed about it. If I have learned anything it is better to stay safe and not be distracted when driving because that will make more people especially students beginning to learn how to drive a lot less nervous than they already are. If anything, that could be better is that everyone should not be distracted is to keep all devices away so that you are not tempted to look at it when driving. Finally, you can have fun with your friends or family but if you feel like you should not drive because it might not be safe then have someone else drive to be safe.
