Drivers Ed Essay

The importance of driver education is important all over the world is important because it teaches new drivers how to operate a motor vehicle and make quick, methodical choices. When a person is driving their vehicle, the person must have trained on how to drive a vehicle and have passed the Drivers Ed test to drive. If the world, mostly the US, didn’t have the Drivers Ed course, I’d say that everywhere in the United States there would be lots of poor trained drivers and countless collisions. What I find really important and thankful for is being able to identify all the road signs I see whenever I am on the road driving. Before I took my Drivers Ed in Tennessee, I studied for two months on the online course, learning and studying all the information I am going to need when I am driving on my own. I passed the online course at home and got my certification to be able to get my permit in California but I never went and tried. After traveling to Tennessee for family related reasons, I happened to go to the DMV in Cleveland, Tennessee was able to pass the test on my first try. Thanks to Drivers Ed, I am fully ready to drive on the road, be able to read and understand road signs, and know who or what has the right of way. Every new driver on the road, mostly around the age of 17-22 I would say are always tempted to show off to their friends and sometimes family that they are able to drive on their own for the first time. Sometimes the new drivers are on their phone recording themselves, not paying attention to what’s up ahead on the road. When the person is now fully paying attention to what’s ahead of them, they are really likely to get into a car accident and that can and would result in someone losing their life. Most of the time, an innocent bystander who was minding their own business was tragically killed by a person who was more focused on showing their friends what they are doing instead of paying attention to what’s ahead of them. On average 2,841 people die a year due to texting and driving crashes. One person is too many people for me. There isn’t a definitive way to completely stop the deaths related to driving, but we can try and eliminate one factor to those crashes which are texting and driving. I think there could be a way where our phone can detect the speed we’re going at without asking us if we’re driving because a human can always lie. The phone like I said could detect the speed we’re going at, and when we exceed the speed limit, the phone would go into a lock mode and it can only get unlocked once we are not driving or going at that speed. I like what Tesla is doing to their vehicles. Their vehicles are able to drive on their own by scanning the road ahead of them and being able to make their own decisions. Their cars are sorta like AI. The vehicle is able to self brake if something crosses their computer, turn right or left to avoid a crash and is able to scan everything in front of them, and when I say “them” I mean the AI or autopilot. The car and Tesla are so smart that the car is able to identify and read road signs. Either known to stop, reduce speed, or merge onto a new lane. I wish that all cars are equipped with this technology for a good economical price so the everyday person is able to have one. Just say the driver of the vehicle is trying to pick up something from the floor and they cannot see ahead of them in that brief moment and a pedestrian who wasn’t paying attention to the road decides to cross the street, the AI or the autopilot would stop the vehicle even though the driver didn’t physical brake. I think if vehicles that are being made now and in the future with this feature in them, I’d say that car crashes would drop, but we cannot forget climate factors though, but that’s another conversation. Talking about crashes, I have never and hope to never get into a car crash myself. Whenever I am on the road driving alone or with anybody, I am constantly checking the cars around me, making sure they aren’t doing something that would result in a crash, when I am behind someone else, I do the three second rule. The three second rule is when the vehicle ahead of me passes, say a light post or something, if it takes me three seconds to pass that, then I am able to brake if the car ahead of me brakes out of no wher. I am a cautious driver and am never under stress or nervous. I think if I were going to be teaching new drivers how to drive and be safe, I would say the number one thing I am sure they have heard a million times, “Do Not Use Your Phone While Driving ”. Then another thing I would say is, “don’t be nervous”. When a person is under stress or being nervous, they are likely to react to something by accelerating, braking hard, and steering really hard.
