Three Check Steps for More Efficient Driving
Drivers education is very important because it can help prevent most avoidable accidents. The most fatal accidents come from distracted driving. Distracted driving comes from; eating, texting, arguing, etc. Nowadays the world has produced new technology such as electronic systems that can be used for cars. Even newer model cars have improved their electronic smart systems. To prevent minor accidents to fatal accidents we need to follow the three steps before we drive. The three steps will ask you questions based on your condition to drive.
Step one is check yourself before you drive. Checking before you drive consists of; checking your phone, checking your mood, checking what you consumed (medication or any type of alcohol), etc. Checking yourself before you drive is checking your well being. It is important to check on yourself before you drive. Lots of freak accidents happen simply because the driver was in no good position to drive. Your mind needs to be clear before you hit the road. You should check yourself to see if you are in any condition to drive before you step on the gas. Step two is to check your surroundings. Checking your surroundings consist of; checking the environment you’re in, checking who you are with, checking the weather, etc. It is very important to check your surroundings so you know what is happening around you and so that you’re able to notice and be aware of everything. Checking who is in your car is very important. Your peers could be a form of distracted driving. You should not drive with a person who is going to distract you. Doing anything distracting with the influence of your peers can result in a collision potentially harming you and the other passengers. Before you drive you need to ask yourself, “are these the people I want to drive with”. Checking the weather is very important because if the outside conditions are too brutal for your level of driving skills do not drive in those conditions. Step three is to simply check your car. There are times where the car is in no condition to drive. Checking your car consist on; checking tires, checking brakes, checking oil, etc. A pre-trip inspection should be done before operating the vehicle according to the DMV California handbook, but why are people still driving their cars in poor conditions? Well that’s easy, the simple answer is denial. Men and women everyday around the world deny that their car needs service until it’s completely out of order. Lots of collisions happen when a car is in no shape to drive. So, before operating your vehicle ask yourself “is my car in any condition to drive”?
I’ve seen minor mistakes multiple times when riding passenger with my peers and my family. The most common mistake that could simply be prevented is texting while driving. Although none of them have ever crashed while in the act, it is still extremely dangerous. To be a safer driver one must follow the rules. Following the rules will make driving more smoothly. Another thing is to follow the three steps; check yourself, check your surroundings, and check your car. I can be a safer driver by following the three steps because they are so simply yet very effective. Everyone can use the three steps before operating their vehicle to reduce any chances or an accident. Checking yourself, your surroundings, and your car can help you become a safer driver.
