How to Become a Better Driver

What is the importance of driving education to become a better and safer driver? Going to a driving school to get your license is a better option. You must also get your learners permit before trying for your license, it shows that you know the rules of the road.  I have taken a driving course and I can say it is the best way to learn the proper rules of the road. You learn everything you need to know to get your license when attending one. Driver education doesn’t just show you how to drive, it also teaches you how to park correctly and the signs you pass while driving. During the driving course, you are taught how to drive in severe weather such as rain or snow. Younger drivers that do not complete a driving course are 75% more likely to get a traffic ticket, and another 24% are more involved in fatal or injured accidents. There are a variety of classes that not only teach you drive a car, but there are also classes for truck drivers, and motorcyclists. When a younger driver completes driving education, they are guaranteed to be a better and safer driver. The steps that can be taken to reduce driving-related deaths are to obey traffic laws in your state, learn to be a defensive driver, and to avoid distractions, such as texting while driving, being on the phone, or even your friends and family can distract you while you are trying to keep your eyes on the road. While driving make sure you are well rested and never under the influence of any alcohol and/or drugs, DUI’s can land you in jail.   Don’t ever drive under the influence, it’s another way innocent people die from accidents. If you or someone you know is under the influence, call Uber or someone you know and trust to get you back home safely. Another way to reduce deaths related to driving is not tailgating, don’t follow a car too in case the car in front of you slams on brakes, or you could be distracted, and you might not hit the brakes in time and hit the car in the back. Always check your mirrors when possible because you could save your own life or someone else’s. Mirrors are a main factor while driving. If you cause an accident as a teen driver your insurance can go up and points can be taken off your license. You can also get points taken for getting pulled over by the police and once all twelve of your points are gone your license is suspended, it can take up to two years to get the points all back. You can only get so many tickets before having to take a defensive driving class. Always go to the posted speed limit because that will also keep accidents from happening. I have experienced a friend driving irresponsibly; they were driving too fast, and I told them to slow down, and they almost caused an accident. That is really the only time I have experienced irresponsible driving from someone I know. Wearing a seat belt can save your life so when you are in the car always buckle up because it can help in the short and long run. When it’s raining every driver needs to be more cautious because the roads are wet and slippery and it’s easier for accidents to happen, and it’s important to avoid big puddles so you don’t hydroplane. A responsible driver should avoid potholes, so you don’t risk getting a flat tire. I can follow all these steps and rules to make myself a better driver. As the driver I must be responsible and look out for myself as well as other drivers around me. I must watch out for the drivers that aren’t as responsible as I am. I cannot let my phone, my friends or family distract me, because taking my eyes off the road just for a second can cause something bad to happen in that one little second. Putting on my seat belt as soon as I get in the car can prevent fatal injuries. Checking my car at least once a week can make me a safer driver. Checking it consists of checking my lights so other drivers can know when I need to brake or make a turn, checking my fluids to keep my car from breaking down, and checking my tires so they don’t go flat while I’m driving. Anything can happen while driving. We as a community must help each other drive safely.
