In a Blink Of An Eye

Driver’s education has been viewed as a waste of time for young teens who are required to do this before they begin to drive. Driver’s education is able to reduce and advocate to decrease the amount of deaths that are due to driving. As a teen who has had experience with driver’s education, it has helped become more aware of what can happen in an instant while driving. Being a cautious and defensive driver has taught me that it’s important to be aware of your surroundings and those drivers who are in a rush are better to let them pass. The steps that can be taken in order to reduce the number of deaths is to take driving routes that are less congested during rush hour. As a California driver I have had several talks with my family where they indicate to me to take a certain route in order to avoid traffic and when arriving at the school parking lot to park as far away as possible in the parking lot to avoid stress while driving.

In my own family we have had some experiences with car accidents, but luckily they have not been our fault. While driving it’s important to monitor those around you as you may be a good driver, but others have something else going on in their lives and minds in that moment. Driving irresponsibly can be changed if you take into consideration the lives you could possibly damage if you don’t stop before making that turn and look both ways.

In order to make someone a better driver you cannot force them to take on new circumstances, but it’s better to reinforce skills that can make someone a good driver. Some skills which I have used to become a good driver include being part of drivers education course, keeping both my hands on the steering wheel, driving the speed limit if others are going faster than trying to follow their speed or at the speed which you feel safe. In order for others drivers to become better and safer drivers on the road it’s important to reinforce to not drive while sleepy, learn technical skills including reflexes, steering, smooth braking and acceleration the ability to measure the other drivers next move and ability to judge your distance from another car in order to make a safe move.

Many active drivers believe that the ability to drive is a right, but it is definitely considered a privilege with several unmeasurable consequences. Several deaths are caused by accidents and reckless drivers who don’t take into consideration the lives of others. Being a driver for almost a year, I understand the importance of taking others’ lives into consideration when driving. As a driver you must give your full attention to the road not having any distractions when you begin to drive. Your life can change in a blink of an eye if you are not cautious enough then there will be many lives lost.

Accidents are completely avoidable; all it takes is being aware of your surroundings. Pay attention and do what you’re supposed to do. Cell phones, radios, and newspapers are all common distractions while driving. If you must use a mobile device, make sure it has a hands-free accessory. If not, pull over and make a decision. Never attempt to comprehend or navigate a map while driving a vehicle. This may result in a traffic violation or even the injury of a pedestrian.

The ability to control your emotions and stress is one of many factors in remaining safe on the road. Some drivers are unable to cope with stress. This emotion can impair one’s ability to drive safely and ensure road safety. If you come across a vehicle that is driving recklessly and constantly following too closely, the best thing to do to avoid a collision is to slow down and allow him to overtake your vehicle. Allow the driver to pass without provoking them.

If all drivers would begin to take into account the lives that could be lost as a result of car accidents and if they would simply be more responsible drivers. Just as life can change in a blink of an eye, it can also change for the better by reducing car accidents and less reckless drivers on the road. We can all learn from our mistakes and if that means changing a few habits and the way we drive it can be done easily. We only have one life and it’s important to value each day for yourself and others around you.
