The importance of driver safety

One thing many people think is an easy task is driving, but in reality you shouldn’t view this task as easy because you are responsible for all the people around you when driving. As you continue driving, it will get easier but it should not just feel so easy to where you feel that you don’t even have to try because that is when things can go wrong.

Driver education is very important when it comes to reducing deaths caused by driving. Driver education is a uniformed teaching of what your driving skills should look like. If there was no driver education, everyone would have their own rules of driving which would cause several accidents. For instance, in most cases you are able to turn right on red as long as you come to a complete stop and see that you can turn safely without hitting a vehicle, but if there was no driver education people would possible have the same mindset about everything and they could choose to turn left on red which could end up being a bad decision. Driver education will also help prevent deaths because it will teach you the rights and wrongs when it comes to driving. It will teach you to stop for pedestrians and to not be a distracted driver. Many people think that distracted driving is just using your phone, but it is actually more than that. It is trying to put on makeup and drive, eating while driving, fixing the radio while driving, and anything else that diverts your focus and attention from the road and your surroundings around it.

When it comes to reducing deaths while driving, there are various steps to take. One thing you should do is to always make sure you are not intoxicated, not only with alcohol, but also drugs. You also want to make sure that your phone will not be a distraction. If you know that your phone is constantly getting notifications, it might be best to silence the notifications from apps that notify you the most when you drive. You also want to make sure that there won’t be anything else distracting you. Distracted driving is the number one cause of accidents. Another important step is to maintain a safe speed. Maintaining a safe speed does not just mean not going over the speed limit, it means to go a speed that fits the conditions you are in. For example, if there is a bad thunderstorm that you have to drive in and the speed limit is 50, that doesn’t mean you should go 50, you should go at a slow enough speed to keep you and the others around you safe. One thing that can also prevent deaths while driving is making sure that you are alert and focused. It is very important to make sure you are paying attention not only to what’s ahead of you, but also the cars beside you and other things in the area. Just looking straight ahead will cause tunnel vision which could lead to an accident because you might not see a car trying to get over in your lane. Another important step to reduce deaths while driving is making sure you are not tired while behind the wheel. If you feel yourself getting tired, pull over at the nearest safe place to you.

I have never been in a car accident or been in the car with someone who is not a safe driver. If I’m ever getting in the car with my friends, I always make sure that they have their license and that I can fully trust them. When riding with someone, it is very important to know that you can trust that person to get you to your destination without breaking any of the rules of the road.

Everyone can take steps to become a better and safer driver. You can be a well experienced driver of 30 years but you can still become better and safer. One thing I can do to become a better and safer driver is to pay more attention to my surroundings. I often do pay attention to my surroundings, but there are times that I get tunnel vision. Another thing I can do to become a better and safer driver is maintaining a safe distance behind other vehicles. I can help others become better and safer drivers by telling them how safe driving can reduce the causes of deaths by accidents. Another thing I can do to assist others in becoming better and safer drivers is to lead by example. If I show people safe driving, they will learn how to do the things I do.
