Driver Importance & Safety
I’ll never forget enjoying myself, sitting at Golden Corral with my whole family, and my coach called my Dad; he was informing me that my teammate and his family got in a severe car accident, which left him and his mother dead on impact at only the age of 12. Years later my brother survived a car accident that exploded his car, and last year my uncle passed away from a motorcycle accident. Driver safety has always been important to me, and I always make sure to practice safe driving, as well as my parents; as my mother got in a car accident while pregnant with me. Driving is nothing to play around with, and safer habits must be put in place.
The first step to driving safely is knowing the rules. Driver education provides great teachings for students no matter the age, as I went through my course at 16. This course taught me defensive driving, the risk of driving under circumstances, and driving safely, all of which are very important. The course gave me confidence in driving, as it was hard for me to be calm on the road due to me being very nervous about driving from the people I know and knew affected by driving. I’ve been driving for almost two years now, and I’ve never been stopped by a cop, for practicing safe driving. You can also research safe driving techniques at home and practice them daily.
Driver safety has affected my life so it’s important to practice safe habits. My other older brother who wasn’t careful with his driving lost his license before 21 and went years without driving. This clearly made it tough for him, which lead to other troubles. This goes to show car accidents are more than going through one physical crash, it can cause long-term issues and greatly affect your life. One step to assure safe driving is to check any notifications on your phone before driving, as this actually clears your mind of anything you have to worry about and allows you to focus, then silence your device. When distracted, that is the most common way of getting into an accident. Around two to three years ago, my neighborhood friend fought for his life in a hospital room, resulting in a crash of a distracted teen driver. Going through those moments of not knowing the result of an accident, is one of the scariest moments, and no mother, father, relative, or friend should ever have to go through that time for an irresponsible, distracted teenage driver.
Another step to reduce unsafe driving is to not play on the road with other cars, or even in your own car while driving. Not every accident was supposed to happen, which is why it’s a accident. Playing on the road can be the quickest cause to car accidents, as you’re distracted and you could swerve, or not press the brakes quick enough and then it’s too late. Car accidents are harsh mistakes that lead to so much problems. Before you play around on the road, or think about scrolling through your phone while driving, think of all the problems you’ll face just for doing something so little. I can’t stress enough how important it is to be safe on the road, due to all the people I’ve seen affected by unsafe driving is honestly heart-breaking. No kid should have this many people affected by driving, so I always encourage all my friends, and family to be safe while driving.
It’s also important to make sure your car is in the proper condition at all times. Just last week my closest friend bust two of his tires when he knew his tire pressure was low. He was okay, but I told him as I noticed it had got lower to put air in his tire. This is pure cause and
effect, he didn’t want to get one dollar tire air, and now he has to replace two of his tires for hundreds of dollars when it could have been prevented simply. Never let a simple action with a low percent of effect, cost you such as putting on your seatbelt, focusing on the road, and not mulit-tasking while driving.
All these driving tips are for safe driving and how to be more responsible on the road. As shown from experiences of my friends, and family members, the importance of practing it daily, and understanding what you’re actually doing is critical all upcoming, and current drivers know. There’s more on the line than you think while driving, before you make a simple mistake on the road, do you really want your family worried about you in a hospital room for being distracted on the road? I didn’t think so, be safe on the road and protect the life God blessed you with.
