Tomorrow Isn’t Promised
My mother always tells me that tomorrow isn’t promised. I apply this to my daily life by doing fun things, eating good food, spending time with family and friends, being happy, and trying not to take life too seriously. This very much applies to safe driving as well. To reduce the number of deaths while driving is so important because behind every wheel is a person who has a family or friends who love them just as much as we love our own family and friends. Being educated on the laws and safe driving is immensely important as these wrongful deaths can be prevented. If a person who isn’t properly educated gets behind the wheel and drives even it’s just to the store, that’s a few blocks away, and causes an accident that could have been prevented. This is also important because it will save the individual’s life as well and whoever else is in the car with them. If it isn’t enough to get educated for other people’s lives, then it should be projected onto their life as consequence of their actions.
Some of the steps that can be taken to ensure more education on safe driving to reduce the number of deaths is holding classes, seminars, internet blogs/posts, and informational on the real-life experiences of people who have lost someone as well as statistics on proving safe driving saves lives. Furthermore, these classes can be held at high schools where kids are just learning how to drive. This would spread more awareness and caution on how to learn to drive properly. Thus, keep the conversation going on how to stay safe and why it’s so important for not only the new drivers to learn about this but older drivers as they go home and talk with their parents. In addition to this, there can be driving simulators that act as lessons for kids and adults to learn from unsafe driving. By seeing and experiencing the simulators courses it can influence drivers to be safer on the road. It can also make drivers more aware of their surroundings as they can prevent an accident if they can see one coming before it happens. These steps could significantly reduce the deaths related to driving.
When I was first learning how to drive, I was in the car with my dad and my brother. I was waiting at a three way stop sign for my turn to go and to the right of me another car was waiting. I let the car on the right of me go but as he was in the intersection, a car came barreling down the other side of the road, coming towards me and t-boned the car in front of me. Luckily, both parties involved in the crash were okay and didn’t have any injuries that I saw. The two cars didn’t hit me, but it was still a very scary experience as I was just waiting at the stop sign. If both cars hadn’t stopped, they would have most definitely hit the car I was in and my family and I could have been hurt. Furthermore, if I hadn’t been aware of my surroundings I could’ve easily been involved in that crash. This is why it’s so important to practice safe driving because if I didn’t, I could’ve ended up in that accident with the other two cars.
Some steps I can take to be a better and safer driver by continuing to always look at all my mirrors and my surroundings, getting into my car, driving it, and getting out. There are so many instances and flukes that can just occur without any explanation when driving so it’s imperative to always keep a watchful eye out for anything. Another step I can take is to take my time when driving, not rush as well as not worrying about if people are impatient behind me. My friend told me what she tells herself before she drives, ‘she will get there when she gets there’ and I think that’s a perfect saying for any driver on the road. Some things I can do to keep others informed and drive safely by talking to them about safe driving, giving them tips on what I do to keep safe on the road, and giving statistics on driver accidents and driver deaths. With these important conversations and statistics, it would help my friends, family, or even acquaintances drive safer to prevent more deaths and accidents on the road.
