All Driving Is Not Safe but Preventable
All driving is not safe, but most driving is according to how people follow their own rules, rather than by the book. Leaning the environment is changing almost all the time and keeping up with the new ways from the old can be challenging if there is no growth in how society is progressing within a new era. This goes into how new technology can prevent and decrease a percentage of deadly fatal crashes. However, some ways that driving can become safer and more restricted from such violence, are to have educational classes, remove distractions, and learn about road rage.
The first aspect that driving can be safer is more educational classes every two years. Statistically, having educational classes specifically on driving and the dangers of it can reduce risk and potentially have higher results on people’s performance. There should be a requirement to take these class every two years to refresh new or old information on safety protocols and rules. I found that almost half of a select group of men and women perform low on standardized, driving, and writing exam tests. Some people do not study or never really learn the material but wing it. Over time information can be forgotten, so re-teaching the information can cut the statics down.
The second aspect that driving can be safer is Removing distractions and locking up systems. Distractions are a huge part of why driving can be so dangerous or just plain deadly. Over 3,142 people were killed in 2022 due to a distracted drivers not paying attention. The increase in injuries has had an impact on families and political statements as well. Teens are three times more likely to get into a crash because they speed, avoid signs, tailgate, look at an object, and or do drugs. Although teens are not the only ones with a bad history, adults are more likely to be reckless just so. There are ways to keep someone alert with listening to music, reduce stressful situations, and planning ahead of time of how to get somewhere without rush. Although I believe with more operational cameras on the roads, more signs, and cops on standby can ensure the safety of all residents.
Lastly, the third aspect that driving can be safer is awareness of Reckless drivers or road rage. Looking around and observing every aspect of one’s surroundings can limit a bad wreck. Being cautious and using common sense can go a long way, but some people do not displace that likely trait or care for the safety of other drivers. If drivers can plan and keep their distance on the road and not go through signs or above the speed limit, this can reduce many chances of fatal crashes. Also, knowing and learning about road rage is important, too, as being aware that when someone is not in a suitable mind space can harm you or themselves. It is better to be calm, understanding, and patient, so the best way is to plan and always pay attention to your signs without slowing down traffic. I have seen family members and friends show aggressive behavior behind the wheel or follow their rules of the road, and it is not something I would want to follow. Yes, it makes me afraid of some rash decisions, but it made me more aware not to follow that bad habit myself but to stick to what I know from what I was taught in driving school.
Overall, driving is a learning skill that must be learned and not given to anyone. I worked hard to have a driving license with learning all the rules to know, which was not easy. Being a driver for three years going on four was a lot for me as it caused me great stress in making quick decisions on the road and the right choices, but it pushed me harder to want to be even better and to deal with challenging issues as it could arise into a conflict.
Although I have not been in a car wreck or had any other issues, I consider myself a safe driver for myself or others around me. Helping other drivers to be safer like me is one of the goals I wish to accomplish: spreading the word and giving out a guide to road rules to refresh their minds. Trying to change a thousand people’s ways of how to deal with conflict on the road is something not unheard of, but it is just the start of many questions and rights of opinions.
