R&R THE CAR!!!!

I have been driving a mighty long time and I have been grateful to see the transition from when cars came with 8 tracks, to tape players, to CD players now to bluetooth. And just like the technology has evolved I have come to notice that the driving capabilities of most drivers have devolved. And I am not saying that in a roundabout way as if everyone on the road are mindless drones that don’t know how to use the good five senses they were born with ( even though I say way more than that and not in a nice way behind the wheel). However, there is an element that I think the current state of drivers don’t really seem to take into consideration. The car is just like your body; it needs R&R repairs and re-check.

I was lucky to have a father that was a mechanic growing up and when we would take road trips he would always check all the cars levels and do a round about the car to make sure the tail lights worked, signals, tires, lug nuts, and ect.. And even with his diligence the car would still break down or issues would arise. He would know when something wasn’t right before it happened because he paid attention to the car like we do our body. So when he would allow me to drive he told me that i have to become one with the car and be able to foresee when something was going to happen or when the car could handle a speed or incline.

So when I started buying my own cars I always made sure to check the oil or make sure when the check engine light came on I went and found out why so that nothing would catch me off guard. It just became second nature for me to do so and it helped me and the car be able to sync with one another. So when I would drive and something would change in the car’s performance I was aware of it and would drive accordingly. My first and only accident was due to me not changing the brake pads when I knew it was time to change them. Luckily I ran into the back of a big truck and no one was hurt except my car. (RIP champagne) Her whole front end was smashed in and I had to total her out. So ever since then I made sure that I did all my repairs and rechecks routinely.

Well during the pandemic my cousin’s son and girlfriend bought their first car during the pandemic. And I was able to see and understand that everything that I explained above plays a major factor in preventing accidents. The first one happened i was in the car and on XMAS day, upon coming back to the house getting off the exit the girlfriend was going really fast but i didn’t say anything is just watched and while going around the curve she lost control of the car and we ended up in the middle of a field in the center of the round about. They got another car and wouldn’t keep up with the maintenance. Well after losing a side view mirror and not taking the initiative to replace it got in another accident. And had many more accidents after that in that car. There was even an incident where the whole tire came off the car and they noticed the wheel only had two lug nuts on it and still drove the car around until the tire came off and they were stranded in the middle of the street with two young children.

So ultimately if you don’t connect with your car like they did in avatar it is very likely that an accident could happen. And I will say they are very fortunate to have not lost their lives or taken someone else’s due to the negligence that they bestowed upon the vehicles they had. In addition to the distractions ranging from using a cellphone to eating to fighting can put an impact upon a person’s driving without fully being aware. The things one doesn’t really think could be a problem pose the biggest threats driving. So remember this: it doesn’t matter how cool the car looks if it isn’t running properly. Just like when you go to work if you don’t feel good you are not going to perform your best and liable to put others in danger depending on the work you do. So if your car isn’t running right it will always be a possibility that i will put someone in danger.
