Third Party Improvement

Driving in the United States is unlike any other country. The sheer amount of practice and conditioning it takes before you first take the wheel is overwhelming at times. When taking a deep dive into the overall statistics of driving in the United States it has been documented that the average casualties per year as a result of driving has entered the thirty thousand range. From these numbers, it could be inferred that the education behind getting your license needs some fine-tuning.

As someone who is now in college and has undergone the trials and tests required to drive in the state of Florida, I think there are only some experiences that you could make up on the spot. Driving a car is something that can be easily manipulated and taken out of control, it’s a privilege.

Taking into account the test needed in Florida such as your permit test. In addition to pertaining a certain amount of hours before taking your driver’s test, I think that there could be more intended training. Going over different situations in person can help simulate real-world experiences. These would contain actions such as fast maneuvers and hydroplaning. By putting drivers in these experiences you would give them a step into the reality that hopefully won’t happen. However, being prepared in different situations will ensure the safety of not only the driver but as well as others on the road.

By taking a step away from the future of driver’s education let’s focus on what is provided. When growing up in Florida it was conditioned that you would get your permit before your license. This was to allow for driving under the consent of an adult. The permit would be acquired based on tests that ensure your basic knowledge of driving. After passing these tests you could then apply for your permit. By taking the time out of your day to learn about the laws of the road you were then able to drive with your parents or supervisor. Florida provided two opinions, learning from a parent or guardian, or learning from a teacher from the driver’s education school. Throughout these different scenarios, you would become more experienced and eventually build up to getting your license.

Through these following steps, the state is expected to lay down its own foundation and apply it to the road. However, to ensure the safety of others on the road how could the number of deaths related to driving be lower? When taking into consideration the number of people getting their hands on a car it is nearly impossible to control this in an environment like the United States. Having people that should not be on the road in the first place is hard to detect when they seem like capable people. You could go through scenarios such as applying more task forces to stop illegal driving or making more daunting rules. Through these different tasks will the outcome change?

The truth of the matter is that anyone can abide by the rules for a driver’s test and then throw all the knowledge out the window when they pass. To help ensure the safety of others would be relying on a complete third-party design. This could be making the roads safer and innovating the design that has been around forever. By using innovations in technology and applying that to the application in which the cars are driving, the death toll of car accidents could decrease.

When taking into consideration the immovable objects on the road such as the signs, street lights, and the road in itself you are left with objects that have not been innovated or changed at all throughout time. For instance, the most recent application that I have noticed on the road is a change in the material so that rainfall does not play a major effect on the slickness. Little things like this can make the environment safer than originally intended. How could the further evolution of the road change? You could make micro-adjustments such as Florida and their adaptation of putting reflectors on major roads with no light. Having small objects that signal when changing lanes by creating a vibration within the vehicle of the car.

To make a driver more aware they have to feel like something is changing inside their own vehicle. When looking at it from the driver’s perspective, everyone feels safe in their car until it is too late to make a maneuver. By manipulating the one thing the driver needs to continue to their destination you could make them more aware. Although this is only an idea it still gives reason to put the drivers in a safer and more adaptable environment. If the driver cannot adapt to spontaneous scenarios then innovate the environment in which they are.
