In the Drivers Seat

Driving is like a checkmark in our young lives that we accomplish. It is a step closer to adulthood and helps us get from one place to another safely. It is important for everyone to take a driver’s education class or be aware of driver’s education. The importance of driver education is so that everyone understands how to safely operate a motor vehicle and knows/obeys traffic laws. Driver education not only saves you from getting a ticket but can save you and the people around you from an accident. Statistics show that over 40,000 people died from U.S. highway fatality accidents in 2005 but only 33,686 died during the Korean war in the 1950s. There are a few steps to take to avoid a car accident such as being made aware of your surroundings and driving sober and or responsibly, leaving yourself a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you, driving only when you obtain a driver’s license or a permit with an adult who holds a current driver’s license. The most effective step is to follow all traffic laws given in the driver’s education guide. The guide provides all information needed to learn how to safely operate a motor vehicle on the road. Thankfully I have never been in a car accident. However, growing up in LA where the traffic is bad, I have seen a few fatal misfortunes. I have seen a lot of people driving irresponsibly not on purpose but by accident. I personally do not have a permit or started the driver’s education course but I do know a few things about driving. To avoid any mishaps it would be a good idea to always be prepared for anything. You could be ready with your seatbelt on and mirrors in check but someone else might not be in the same mindset and readiness. The other driver might be distracted at that moment, causing an accident. Another step to becoming a better driver or to helping others become better and safer drivers is to make sure everyone communicates properly whether it is using signals or your horn. Using your signal is very important because it allows others to know where you’re going and if you need space to pass through a lane. I know that if your signal light is not working then you have to use your arms. Some signals available on most vehicles are hazards, signals, and brakes. These are not really signal lights, but they are headlights, which are used to see while driving at night, which is important. It is also crucial to make sure no one is driving under the influence, make sure to report any unusual driving to the police. The proper way to report a vehicle you think might be under the influence is to get its license plate number, pull over and then report them to the authorities. Most people just avoid cars making unusual moves, which would be the usual response from others, but it is better to be safe than sorry so reporting them would not only help you and that other person in the future but it will help more people than you know. Driving under the influence is terrible. I know someone who did drugs one time and years later while clean she saw a dragon appear on the freeway while her kids were in the back seat almost causing an accident. Even if you don’t plan on driving, going into the future, I think that it should be mandatory for everyone to take a driver’s education course. Another pivotal step needed to become a safer driver is to be prepared, by checking your mirrors, keeping your seatbelt on, and most importantly making sure you are in the right mindset and not under the influence. Driver education is very important, it is beneficial and helps get people around safely if you completed your driver’s education course or a permit/license test. Never just rely on your mirrors. Always remember there are blind spots, be aware of your blind spots. Not many people are aware of their blind spots. These people only rely on their mirrors, which is dangerous and can cause injuries and serious accidents. Overall, driver education is very important because it saves lives and prevents injuries. Be aware of others around you. Do not assume that they see you. Allow yourself some time to safely get to and from your destination. Share the road and be careful.
