Sit Down, Be Quiet and Drive Safe

Driving; the quintessential mode of transportation from point A to point B. A rather simple concept of driving. The ability to operate a one ton mountain of metal and rubber in order to satiate ones need for mobility, but unlike your common Cranes, Bulldozers and Excavators in which need specialized training and documentation in order to operate , cars only require a test in written and driven form and a specific amount of driving experience that varies from place to place. With this in mind there must be an insurmountable number of immaculate drivers out there because of this immaculate process of acquiring a drivers license. Sadly, no this is not the case, in fact, rather the opposite. Every day 99 people die in car accidents, and this can be attributed to poor driving techniques. Drivers’ education teaches us that we must maintain undisturbed throughout our entire journey in an automobile while not being inebriated by anything of the sort. As well as this seat belts must be worn and we as a unit must pay attention n to road signs and how they work. Drivers education teaches this to an immaculate extent and every day we see people disregarding these signs as seconded rate hogwash. If more people were to get off their phones for a picosecond and pay attention to their driver’s education classes, then the number of deaths that are attributed to driving would be sliced by an immense amount.

In order to hinder the amount of deaths that are attributed to improper driving one must remove all distractions from ones immediate field of view. Phones, books and other objects that can be read must be placed out of arms reach and in a place that makes it inopportune to grasp. Like the glove compartment or in the back seat of the automobile. As well as this being under the influence of anything and attempting to drive is the most idiotic thought that one can coalesce into a statement. Drunk driving is incredibly unsafe for not only the driver, but for anybody in the vehicle with you and those around you. Mrs. Betsy is walking across the street, and you drive up going 85 in a 35 mph limit zone and BAM there’s a hefty lawsuit for you and you get no more drivers license because you are an imbecilic and deciding that having a BAC of 0.3 and driving was a smart idea. If you must be under the influence of something then be in a group with one person not having even an ounce of whatever intoxicant is used throughout that specific encounter, this person is called the designated driver and they will be the one driving because they are not inebriated and can think straight. If you are by yourself then there is this magical app called Uber where you can get someone to drive, you home without you having to drive intoxicated.

As for me, I cannot drive because I have not yet acquired a driver’s license, but I do have a couple of anecdotes that pertain to people driving irresponsibly. For one when I get to work in the afternoon, my parents are driving home and some child bolts out of a gas station at a high speed and literally disregarding the red light that means “stop,” and pile drove my parent’s car at approximately 50 miles per hour. Luckily no one was harmed but the child Shure acted like one when my stepfather wanted his insurance information. The kicker is it was his parents so surly, the child was in heaps of trouble because of that. Of course, my parents aren’t golden drivers, seat belts are rarely worn in the front seats, except in our newest car, but this is only because it yells at you if your seatbelt is not on. Not my friend or family, but a coworker of mine last year was driving through a trailer park and he was likely going 60 mph in a 15 mph zone where children cross the street to get to the bus stop.

To be a safer driver myself I must first get a drivers license and learn to drive but since I took drivers education and know not to hit little elderly women because I’m an inebriated braggart, I should remember that I must not be distracted when driving. To help others be safe on the road, drill them to pay attention to the road signs, the speed limits and elderly women crossing the street because they are easily hittable if you are not paying an appropriate amount of attention. But nonetheless making sure that whoever I’m with is not intoxicated would be the paramount option because I’m not about to risk mine and others lives because you need your feel-good juice before you drive. And if they are intoxicated, then ill drive because I don’t drink and would rather drive than let a drunk person drive. On a more community driven approach a universal form of driver’s license acquisition because some states are religious about what you need to do to get one and others have barely any requirements to get one.

Nonetheless, drivers’ education is a quintessential part of education and is something people should pay attention to and remember because it can same an insurmountable number of lives and keep many people out of jail because they know how to drive. By always exercising safe driving etiquette and not succumbing to nasty temptations then be a safer driver you will become and the deaths that are caused per day in the US from just driving will dwindle until we as a unit reach a collective 0 deaths per day while driving.
