Driver’s education is a first time warning of the roads or a mind refresher for some people. You learn the rules of what you are allowed to do and what not to do. It can be your life or another person’s life on the line with the wrong choice. With driver’s education, people will learn how many lives get lost due to car accidents. As said on the site, an average of 34,000 people lose their lives during car accidents in America. Driver’s Ed is a learning opportunity so people can get on the road and drive as safely as possible.

In order to prevent car crashes, the driver must be alert and aware of their surroundings at all times. They must be able to decipher what the street signs mean and follow the traffic lights. They should not be running any red lights even if they see a person breaking that law. All passengers should wear their seat belts when in a moving vehicle because the airbags can still cause harm. Passengers should be sitting normally and not with their feet propped up because in any case of an accident, their legs can get crushed. The driver should always have a clear view into their mirror and check blind spots, especially in crowded areas. When making a turn, it’s better to be safe than sorry by fully turning your head to check your surroundings at least 3 times. Following the speed limit is one of the most important things to be safe because if you are moving too slow or fast, an accident may occur.

I have been in a few car accidents while I was the passenger but the driver I was with was never the problem. It has always been another person hitting our vehicle for not paying attention. The most recent accident I have been in was less than a five minute drive from my house to a friend’s house in the rain. He continued going straight down the road towards his house and a woman pulled out of a street turning towards us. The rain must have impaired her vision while driving because the woman claimed to have seen his blinker on to take a right on the street she was just on but it was not. The woman hit us because she did not wait at the stop sign long enough and hit the front of the car, not too hard luckily. They ended up exchanging information. My friend was in a previous accident at night when someone hit a woman in front of them and she got pushed into his car. That was his first accident so it was a scary experience for him to be in the car on his own just trying to get home for school the next day. The woman had her child in the car with her and her vehicle received more damage than my friend’s. The person who had hit and caused the accident, drove off without taking any responsibility to exchange details or even check on the other people involved in the accident.

You can’t control how the rest of the world drives so always be cautious of others around you. Be as careful as possible because you don’t know how hard a car can come crashing. Keeping a good distance from the vehicle in front is important in case of a sudden stop. Getting your car inspected every now and then to be sure it’s in good driving condition is the best way to be a safe driver for yourself and others. Your oils, gas, brakes, gearshift, wheels and whatever else should function normally and comfortably before heading anywhere. A person should not be drunk driving because it impairs their senses and motor skills which is a danger to everyone. They should wait until all the alcohol has left their system or call a person who has not been drinking or is intoxicated in any form. If a person is tired, they should not be driving, but resting instead or finding a way to wake themselves up because their reaction time will not be as fast. If a person is struggling to see on the street, it’s best to get checked by a doctor. But even before receiving a license, you get asked if you have trouble seeing and hearing. Doctors may prescribe medicine to people so if anyone takes something that makes them drowsy, they are not in the right condition to be operating a vehicle.
