Road risk education

The importance of driver education is as stated to reduce the number of traffic deaths every year. This task is the responsibility of every motorist young and old. Whether you are a new driver or have been on the road for decades, the safety of others is still the driver’s responsibility. Being uneducated about drivers’ safety isn’t an excuse. Death on the motorways will forever be a problem how to combat this problem is to educate the populace that drives of the dangers involved and the responsibilities of driving. The benefits of educating drivers on the risks of the road are directly correlated with the number of traffic accidents every year. This is why it is so important to receive and continue your driver’s education for your safety and for every one you share the roads with.

Risk will always be present while driving but there are ways to mitigate the risks involved

One of the most significant steps you can take is being able to identify the risks involved with driving, knowing what to do and what’s going to put people in danger is a key step in driver safety. A few examples of this, the first example I want to highlight is driving distracted whether it’s the people you are driving or your phone. Driving distracted is notorious for accidents and death. Another example is impaired driving, drugs, and alcohol have been proven for years to ““` ` `slow reaction time as well as impair your critical thinking. Making it much harder to identify the risks of the road. The final risky behavior that I want to highlight is aggressive driving. The risks of being too aggressive while driving are clear and it doesn’t just put you at risk but everyone around you at risk. So the main way you can help with drivers’ safety is to reduce the number of distractions around you while driving. Putting your phone down while driving eliminates a key distraction that many people get hurt or killed by every day. Passengers are another common distraction that’s harder to deal with than just putting your phone down. A way to help with this is to make sure everyone has a seat belt regardless of age or position in the car. Unbuckled passengers are a danger to themselves and everyone in the car at the time. Explaining why it is important for you to stay focused on the ever-changing environment that is on our roads while reminding people of the dangers of the road while driving can help reduce the risk that your passengers may present by being in the car. Whether is another component of car crashes knowing when it’s safe to drive or when the risks are too high to make the trip. The static nature of weather makes this rather difficult to moderate for the DMV, It’s always your responsibility before driving in bad weather or good to know what you’re getting into and the capabilities of you and your vehicle. Work is important but not worth your life or the life of another motorist/ pedestrian. Aggressive driving is another high-risk example, rapid changes in speed, and intersection changes are hazardous to you and everyone around you. A step to can take to help mitigate the risk to you by other aggressive drivers is vigilance. Knowing where other drivers are around you is important so you can react to anything that might put you at risk. Identifying motorists driving aggressively early is important so you can position yourself out of the highest-risk areas. An example of this would be identifying someone who is actively changing lanes and passing people so you can safely distance yourself from danger. Actively checking for changes around your vehicle is a key step in drivers’ safety.

Being vigilant to distracted drivers and impaired motorists is my biggest takeaway. I have previously been in a few accidents ranging from small fender bends with the environment, all the way up to being in a car that got flipped. Many if not all of these crashes were the result of irresponsible drivers’ friends, family, and third parties no one is exclusive to blame. That is why educating people all throughout their life is essential no matter the person’s age or race the dangers of the road don’t discriminate. In the case of family and friends being responsible is sometimes a challenge of standing up to peer pressure. My way to do this is to explain how real the dangers of the road are and how permanent and impactful they can be on a person’s whole life.

The best step you can take in drivers’ safety is to lead by example, this may be as simple as asking someone to put their seatbelt on even if it’s not your car you may end up saving people’s lives. Too more extreme examples like explaining how the driving procedure can be executed safely. The Most important and realistic example I can give is if you feel someone is driving erratically or even just making you nervous, voice your opinion and politely let them know why phones are a super common distraction that many teens will just accept as part of driving. Driver education is something every motorist should know and know how to teach, it’s a preventative measure to let you know the real-life dangers of driving. In conclusion, there are many things you as an individual can do to help keep yourself and others on the road safe. Staying educated on the dangers of the road, and helping others on their educational journey is a way we can all work together to keep traffic fatalities as low as possible.
