Safety First on The Road

Take a moment and think back to when you were a pre-teen. Being a Freshman in high school and finally being old enough to take Driver’s Ed. Being excited knowing you’re going to be able to drive a car and hang out with your friends. Do you remember when you first got your Driving Permit? Maybe you remember how it felt when you moved from the passenger seat to the driver’s seat & got behind the wheel. As a whole, we have all taken the Drivers Education class and understand that it provides the importance of road safety.

Driver education is important because it teaches people the rules of the road and how to drive safely. It also teaches them about traffic and construction signs, which are important for keeping drivers and pedestrians safe. By learning the rules of the road, drivers can avoid accidents and keep themselves and others safe. They can also learn how to drive safely in different conditions, such as in bad weather or at night. Learning about traffic and construction signs can help drivers avoid accidents and know what to expect when they are driving. For example, drivers should know what the different traffic signs mean and how to react to them. They should also know what the different construction signs mean and how to drive safely around construction zones. Driver education can help drivers learn all of this information and more, which can help them drive safely and keep themselves and others safe on the road. It also helps people to develop good driving habits, which can help to reduce the number of accidents and deaths on the road. The most common place for accidents is intersections and interstates, this can be due to driving while they are distracted, such as talking on the phone or texting. I believe that if we took the time to actually pay attention to distracted driving, then that would change the numbers drastically. Distracted driving is a serious problem that can have deadly consequences. Every day, 9 people in the United States are killed and more than 1,000 are injured in crashes involving distracted drivers.

As a new young driver, responsibility and being aware is key. I say this because when I was 6 years old, my mom and I got into a rear-ended car accident that caused our car to run off a road and down a hill. Being in that situation at such a young age has had a positive impact on me at 18 years old. I now see this as a reason for my awareness of my surroundings on the road and my ability to recognize irresponsible driving. I am more cautious and aware of other drivers when I am on the road. I also try to be a more responsible driver myself, by following the rules of the road and driving safely. I believe that everyone should be aware of their surroundings on the road and be responsible drivers, in order to keep themselves and others safe. I believe the best way to become a better and safer driver is to be aware of the dangers of the road and to drive defensively. Such as anticipating potential hazards, including other drivers and damaged road surfaces. I also believe that it is important to obey the rules of the road and to drive at a safe speed. There are a number of steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving, and everyone can play a role in making the roads safer. I can help others become safer on the road by talking to them about the dangers of driving and by encouraging them to drive safely. This includes managing the speed limit, not tailgating when in a rush, and wearing seat belts if they forget. In my eyes, There are many different options that can be looked at to reduce the number of deaths related to driving like Increasing the number of police officers who are on the road and enforcing distracted driving laws, Raising the fines for distracted driving & Providing more education and awareness about the dangers of distracted driving. Did you know that drivers that take their eyes off the road for just two seconds at 55 mph travel the length of a football field while they are not looking? In conclusion, driver education is important because it can help to reduce the number of accidents and deaths on the road. We should be safe and not drive distracted.
