Drivers take precautions

  • The significant importance of driving education is to inform new upcoming drivers on how to drive properly with safety measures at all times. This can help reduce the numbers of deaths as a result of driving. The Department of Motor Vehicles driver’s manual to driving is a user-friendly tool to guide and teach the rules of becoming a safe and sufficient driver. The importance of Drivers education increases road safety, statistics show that teens who do not enroll in a driving school are 75% more likely to violate rules and get a ticket, 24% more likely to be involved in fatal accidents or death, and 16% more likely to get into an accident. This is significant information, for all drivers. The importance of drivers education guidelines are to help make the drivers more knowledgeable about road safety, and to help prevent accidents, reckless driving, as well as the consequences. Furthermore, I’ve learned many things about the road that have made me a safer driver, like always looking in my mirrors, never going on my phone, and always paying attention to the road and road signs. Additionally, driving is a skill and some steps that can be taken to reduce the numbers of deaths related to driving would be first, by putting your seatbelt on no matter what, then making sure you can see out of all of your mirrors before you even start driving, also if you wear glasses be sure to wear them when driving this has personally helped me more as a driver because I can see the road better at night. To add, I want to emphasize that the number of death rates for car accidents continue to rise due to intoxicated drivers, speeding, distracted driving, and reckless driving. The best way to prevent and reduce these scenarios is by only driving when you are capable of doing it safely and if you can’t don’t drive at all. This information demonstrates the precautions that need to be taken while being a driver as well as the responsibilities that come with driving. Thus, to always remember to always stay focused on the road, obey signs, and drive cautiously especially with others in the vehicle. In fact, from my own experiences with driving I have learned that sometimes you can be doing everything right on the road, but others will be the cause of a problem or accident. For example, I was in a car accident in 2020 with my father. My father was driving on the freeway trying to get me back home and while he was driving he wanted to change lanes but somehow a car hit him and we slid into a ditch while the other car got flipped over. The mistake was no seatbelt use and failing to use the turning signal when trying to merge into a different lane . He did look over his shoulder to check his blind spots but the car still ended up hitting us from the side of my fathers car. This experience was very traumatic for me, it taught me so much in an instant. I was of course scared and hurt; I came out with a concussion and my dad didn’t have any real injuries. The main lesson I learned that day was you must always be aware of your surroundings and let the other drivers on the road know when you want to change lanes safely. This car accident showed me what things not to do when driving and to pay more attention to other drivers. While this accident happened in 2020 I have recently experienced a car accident myself in my own car. This was my first car accident alone. I was driving to the gym, something I always do and there was a red light, I was behind many cars so I obviously stopped and there was traffic. I was driving slower and safer but I got thirsty at the red light so I tried to grab my water but I had dropped my water bottle on the floor where my brakes and gas had got stuck. Meanwhile, the person in front of me was braking so my car went forwards so I ended up rendering their car. I had lightly taped the car in front of me, I was so scared and worried that it had caused damage but when we pulled over everything was ok and no one was hurt. Additionally, what this experience made me notice about my driving skills was that I need to pay more attention and not be too close to other cars. I was lucky enough to not get in a worst accident so I was grateful. But now moving forward I can take more precautions to driving safely like never being on my phone while driving or trying to eat. These two are my hardest tasks to accomplish, sometimes but now that I have been in two car accidents I can be more knowledgeable about things I shouldn’t be doing when driving. Overall, driving is a wonderful way to transport as well as travel; but if not taught well or responsible enough it can take a left turn pretty quickly. My best advice for new drivers would be to thoroughly read the rules of the road before driving, practice and get comfortable behind the wheel before hitting the highway , and to always be confident referring to the rules of the road, prioritizing safety at all times.
