Ed Contest

  • What is the importance of drivers ed in reducing the number
deaths as a result of driving?

    • It is important because a lot of first-time drivers use this to
learn how to drive safely. A lot of the times this is for high
school students or persons from foreign countries learning the
rules of USA roads. It is important that the standards are the same
across every school and program so that everyone on the road has
the same knowledge about the road.

  • What steps can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to
    driving?

    • Some steps to be taken is no texting and driving. Limit the amount
of distractions the driver has. Ensure the mirrors the driver must
use are not blurry and positioned to where they can see correctly.
Up to date maintenance on the vehicle Is done on time and
correctly. No driving under the influence. No speeding.

  • Have you ever had an experience of being in car accident or have
seen your friends or family members driving irresponsibly?

    • I have been a passenger in a car accident. The person behind us
hit my mother’s car but not much damaged was done and so she let
him go but a few days later the light went out and she wished she
had gotten his information. I have also backed into someone that
was parked incorrectly in my driveway and we called our insurance
and handled it. One of my friends in the military lost his life due
to drunk driving. He was a passenger and was not wearing his
seatbelt and was thrown out of the vehicle.

  • What steps can you take to be a better and safer driver as well as
help others become safer on the road?

    • Ensure I am following the rules and if I am a passenger, ensure the
driver is following the rules of the road. It is better to get
there late and safe than not at all and dead or injured.
