today – Alive tomorrow.
Driving
for the first time alone is a big responsibility. Therefore, new
drivers should educate themselves on driving safely. In doing so, it
will help reduce the number of car accidents. According to the Drive
Smart website, “First year drivers are 1,000% more likely to get
into a car crash than any other age group.” For that reason alone,
parents and teens should make it a top priority to become educated on
safe driving. Thankfully, there are many steps you can take to become
educated on safe driving.
One
step that can help reduce car accidents is to find a local driving
school near you. By learning road safety and rules of the road, it
helps give teens the knowledge they need to know to start driving.
Not only will Drivers ed give teens the information they need
to know about safe driving, but it will also help them become
comfortable when it is time to get on the road. After you learn
everything you need to know about being safe on the road, it will
finally be time for you to practice.
The
next step that can help decrease car accidents is to start slow and
practice in a parking lot before you even consider driving on the
road. By practicing in an empty parking lot, it allows you to get
familiar with driving a car. I know from experience how effective
driving in a parking lot can be. Although it may seem silly, it will
help you adjust to driving in a car. With this in mind, you will
notice that you have grown into a better driver as well as a safe
driver because you did not rush into things.
The
third and final step will be to gain confidence. If you are not
confident enough in your driving skills, there is absolutely no
reason for you to be on the road. In other words, driving is a big
responsibility, not only are you putting your life at risk, but you
are also putting other people’s lives at risk. For this reason, you
should take your time and gain confidence in yourself to make sure
you are ready for this big responsibility. The only way you can gain
confidence is to practice, practice, practice!
The
most important fact to remember is that driving is a big
responsibility. With this in mind, remember to stay focus and keep
you and others around you safe. In the hope that, you will be alert
today and alive tomorrow.
