The End of Cars Ending Lives

Driver
education is one of the first things that impact how someone drives
aside from their parents or guardians. Beginning drivers need someone
to explain how dangerous driving is and how necessary it is to follow
the rules when driving. If a beginning driver doesn’t receive this
instruction, they won’t have the adequate knowledge they should
have, and, due to this, they are putting others in danger on the road
because they don’t know everything they should and shouldn’t do.
Many who didn’t do well in drivers ed end up driving
reckless and carelessly.

We need to
increase the penalties for reckless driving to deter drivers from
pursuing this form of driving because I know many students from
school who drive recklessly, and, while they have gotten in trouble,
the penalty’s affects were short lived, and they are out driving
reckless once more. Furthermore, all drivers should have to download
an app, where every time one enters a car, the only thing enabled on
their phone is the GPS. This app wouldn’t be exclusively for the
driver, but passengers as well because passengers can be just as
distracting as the driver texting. I think it would be a good idea
for the app, if someone texts the person in the car, to send a
response back explaining that they are driving and will return their
text in a little while, just to provide an explanation why they
aren’t responding.

At
school, the laws that pertain to driving are hardly enforced; little
enforcement leads to many reckless drivers cruising on the road, far
exceeding the speed limit and weaving through cars on the main road.
During my time driving I have only seen three cars pulled over for
reckless driving; I know far more should be pulled over. Beginning
drivers, however, aren’t the only reckless drivers. My grandpa is a
reckless driver, so much to where my mom won’t allow my sister or I
to drive with him. One time when I rode with him he pulled out a
fishing manual and just began reading it, with both hands! He put his
knee up and steered with his knee, nearly driving straight off of the
road. He never had to go through drivers ed, and I believe it
could have made him a much safer and less reckless driver if he had.
This is what drivers ed can prevent and needs to prevent.

Lastly,
I change my music quite a bit while driving, and I need to reduce
this because each time I do so I take my road for a few seconds, and
each second, when your eyes are off of the road, counts.
Additionally, I’m going to try getting across to my grandfather
about driving more safely because old dogs can learn new tricks, and
this trick could save lives. Along with this, I’m also going to
report more irresponsible driving behavior when at school to reduce
how often people act recklessly in the parking lot.
