Honk If You Love Jesus Text While Driving If You Want To Meet Him
Driving is
something that most teens look forward to during their time in
highschool, it means no more walking, no more asking for a ride, and
getting to have a little more freedom when it comes to going places
but what happens when the typical impulsive reckless teen gets behind
the wheel and is barely getting a new taste of freedom. As a teen who
has spent a good amount of time in Mexico I have been able to observe
teens without as many restrictions that we have in the United States,
they drive fast, they start driving at a really young age and
sometimes sadly they drive while drinking. That is why I think that
drivers ed is very important, because it teaches us that there
is more to driving than we think and that with driving there comes a
lot of responsibilities not only for ourselves and the car we drive
but also for others who share the road with. We are given an
awareness of the risks that come with driving and that with one rule
we don’t follow we can be responsible for an accident big or small.
Whether you are a
brand new driver or a longtime driver we all have distractions and
according to Market Insider the biggest causes of accidents are
distractions whether it be responding to a text, talking to friends
or even putting on makeup while driving. Personally I feel that teens
are more susceptible to these distractions due to FOMO aka the fear
of missing out. We tend to feel the need to be on our phone a lot of
the time regardless of what we are doing or where we are. Another
distraction can be friends especially when someone is the first one
to get their license because now they are everyone’s ride. I think
that new drivers should be encouraged to try and reduce the number of
distractions that they have in their car including putting their
phone on silent and maybe not having people who would be loud or a
distraction. I think this solution also can help people who have been
driving for a long time already given that regardless of how long
someone has been driving one second of distraction can lead to a
really bad accident
I personally have
experienced reckless driving from my dad, as someone who works in big
cities like San Fransisico and Los Angeles he has gotten used to the
traffic and the reckless drivers. He has adapted to their ways of
driving and has become like them in a sense. At times he can have
very bad road rage and drives fast so every time I am with him I get
a little scared but I also try and calm him down and make him realize
we are not always in a rush. Another bad experience we have had with
a reckless driver was when our close family friend was on his
motorcycle going to work when a drunk driver hit him killing him and
leaving his family without a dad and a husband. This personally was
very sad to have witnessed and infuriating knowing an irresponsible
driver had taken such an innocent and amazing life so quickly due to
one bad decision.
I have seen the ups
and downs of driving and personally I feel like something I can do in
order to be a better safer driver is being more cautious in the way I
drive and also try to reduce my distractions as much whenever I
drive. I feel like at times I can get very nervous and feel under
pressure which is probably not the best either so I also think that
changing my state of mind while I drive could be very impactful. In
conclusion driving is a very big responsibility and in the end there
will always be rules but what determines the driving is the driver
and how they choose to follow those rules.
