Don’t Be Scared to Save a Life
Scared!
That’s how everyone feels when they first get behind the wheel.
Cars are a powerful machine to have to control. The more practice you
get driving, the more confident you become. The more confident you
become, the less likely you are to make a stupid mistake. Driver’s
Education is the practice and knowledge you need to turn the SCARED
into capable confidence.
Death
happens in a matter of moments when two cars collide at high speeds.
Following some common sense rules can prevent that from ever
happening to you! Never drive when you are sleepy. Staying awake and
alert will save your life. Also, never drive when you are heavily
medicated. Driving while taking prescription drugs will cause
drowsiness and your response time will be too slow to prevent serious
injury. Lastly, never drive when really upset or angry. You may not
even realize it, but your mind is not on driving and staying safe.
You need your mind, while driving, to focus on the road!
Life can
flash before your eyes without you even doing anything at all. Mine
did, when I was T-boned by an elderly driver while waiting at a red
light. It spun my car around and I was unable to get out of my car
from my own door. I was driving myself and my brother home from
school when this frightening accident occured. I don’t know if the
driver was sleepy, on medication, or emotional because the ambulance
took him away. I am grateful my brother and I were ok. I was shaken
up and had to find the courage to get behind the wheel again.
Safety
while driving is possible and of extreme importance! You can follow
simple tips to help. Put your phone out of reach while driving so
there is no temptation for using it. You can also pair your phone
with your car to use hands free features. Leave early and allow for
extra time if you need to pull over for any reason. Share your
experience and tips with friends. It may save the life of someone
you love!
