Having
a car can be useful but it can also take away a person’s life. It’s
heartbreaking losing our loved ones if we don’t drive safely. It’s
too late to regret what we did. It’s a difficult lesson to learn, but
we know how dangerous it is to drive. A passenger’s life is at risk
depending upon who is driving.

Before
we start driving we need to learn the safety tips and the rules of
the road. Drivers ed is very important. You must also learn
to wear seatbelts – it’s the law! Many drivers have a habit of not
wearing seatbelts because they consider themselves good drivers.
Drivers and passengers in the car are supposed to fasten their
seatbelts at all times. Another way to avoid tragic accidents is to
pay attention to the traffic signs. Their role is to inform the
driver what they are expected to do. However, many drivers ignore
these signs and it leads to severe consequences. Sometimes, at night,
drivers take unnecessary chances because there are fewer cars on the
road. They should reduce their speed since it’s more difficult to
see. Driving during the day when visibility is much better is safer.
However, driving long distances can result in accidents because a
driver can become sleepy. Being alert is critical when driving.

Lastly,
drinking while driving is illegal and very frequently can result in
disaster. My friend’s father was in a car accident. It was dark and
he was coming home from a volleyball court. It turned out that my
friend’s father crashed his car into our gym teacher’s car. He had
been driving while intoxicated. Luckily, no one got hurt. However, it
was really irresponsible for the father to be driving in that
condition.

In
conclusion, there are several things one must do to be a safe driver.
Wear your seatbelt at all times and insure that everyone in the car
does the same; drive at the speed limit and pay attention to the
rules of the road; never drive tired and never drive while under the
influence of alcohol or drugs and never be a passenger in a car with
someone who is under the influence. If drivers would follow these
important rules, we would have much fewer deaths and injuries from
car accidents.
