Education Initiative 2020: In the Driver’s Seat

One of the key highlights
in a young adult’s life is finally getting you license and car the
accomplishment and freedom you feel isn’t one that you experience
very often , but no matter how much you practice while someone was
riding with you, you can still be very inexperience and no matter how
much you drive or comfortable you get you should always be fully
aware and cautious every time you pull out onto the road. More
schools should teach drivers ed so kids know more than necessary just
to be on the safe side as the saying goes, “I’d rather have it
and not need it than need it and not have it” I feel most people
who drive irresponsibly have the mindset that “It can’t happen to
me, I won’t get in an accident” but no one knows the day or the
hour that you could be called home it can be over in just a second.

No matter what there will
always be irresponsible drivers who drive while intoxicated or under
the influence, and constantly on their phones. I feel that if we
could get some kind of law passed that limited the number of
alcoholic beverages that you were allowed to serve and be served at
bars and other places than supply it. Aside from that I think there
should be more patrols going on day round and maybe have more road
blocks in places where people are known for speeding or areas that
have a high accident rate.

Around this time two years
ago me and my mother were in an car accident we were lucky enough to
come out of it with no fatal injuries but still injuries non the less
I had to go to physical therapy for my knee which cut my cross
country season short, my mother have to get nerve surgery on her
wrist which put and end to her cosmetology career as they told her
she could do it anymore forcing her to close her shop and get another
side job/hobby all of this because someone couldn’t wait to send a
text message and wasn’t paying attention the other person in the
collusion was not also harmed but not in any major way.

In conclusion we should try
to help in any way possible no matter how small you think it may
seem, continue to drive safely and cautiously because not only are
you driving for yourself you also have to drive for everyone else on
the road. if your riding with someone who is speeding speak up, if
their seat belt is off speak up if they are texting and driving take
their phone and put it up until the car is stationary. No thing is to
small so do it if you can you might just save a life.
