These accidents are caused by distracted driving, reckless driving,
or even a car not being in good shape. No one plans for these small
incidents to turn into tragedies. Many of these catastrophic
accidents could be prevented.

If
you’re behind the wheel it’s important to drive with caution.
Doing this while driving is so crucial because at any given second
someone else might be driving with no care. You may be driving great
but others may not be.

It
is vital that we all know the rules of the road to keep ourselves and
others from danger. To limit the number of driving-related accidents,
drivers should be aware of their surroundings at all times. Always
make sure to obey traffic laws, have our seatbelt, and sit correctly
in your car. It is said that seat belts help limit the risk of death
by 45% (“Car Accident Statistics in the U.S.: Driver Knowledge”).
Always have your phone on silent and away from you.

To
ensure our safety on the road, we should be well-rested before
driving. My older brother was in a life-threatening accident all due
to him falling asleep behind the wheel. He had a long night, and on
his way home he drifted into sleep while operating a vehicle. He
crashed into a building and when he woke up from the impact he
realized the car was a complete loss as he was retrieved by the jaws
of life. It was the worst thing that could have happened to our
family at the time. Luckily he was not taken from us that day, but it
reassured us how crucial it is to be attentive.

Finally,
a few steps that we can take to promote safe driving are to have our
phones away from us and on silent. Let’s be on time, running late
causes many to drive faster than usual. Keep our cars in check! Car
maintenance is important on the road. Overall to be safe and secure,
let’s drive with care and knowledge.
