Drivers EDucate the Masses
Drivers EDucate the Masses
For
a lot of teenagers, driving on the road for the first time is one of
the most terrifying things in your life. It is not just riding your
bike or skateboarding, but a whole new experience involving the
control and maneuvering of this hunk of metal that could be fatal if
you don’t know how to control it. That is why Drivers ed is
so important. You are able to learn the perils of the wode and the
consequence of your actions, especially if you make bad choices. You
are also able to learn the control and workings of a car to keep
yourself, and others safe,.
One
major importance that comes from Drivers Ed is the perils it teaches
you about driving, as the driver and the pedestrian. Before I went to
Drivers Ed, I didn’t realize bikers had to follow the rules of
right-of-way as well, and upon learning found myself taking much
safer precautions and stopping at stop signs more when I rode my
bike, possibly saving me from possible perilous accidents. As well,
drivers ed teaches you the consequences of careless driving, such as
the violations you can get for passing a school bus, or going to fast
in a residential area, letting you know your own consequences and
allowing you to know the consequence of possible actions. All of this
adds up, and causes less accidents and therefore, deaths, overall.
In addition, many studies have been proven to show a correlation
between taking drivers ed and less of the occurrence of traffic
violations and accidents in the first year, giving even more cause to
the fact drivers ed can reduce the number of deaths as a result of
driving. Just being able to know the ropes of driving, whether the
driver or the pedestrian, can do a lot to account for the safety of
anyone involved.
Though
it can be decreased, death because of driving can still very much
happen if you or someone else does not follow the rules of the road.
In fact, it is probably almost inevitable, at all ages, although
there are many measures you can do to prevent it. One major way is
following the rules of the road. Though you may believe nobody is
there, running a red light or stop sign can be extremely perilous,
especially is there is a car you don’t see that you could hit. Just
the other day, around 10 PM, I was driving when I had a bad feeling
and slowed before a green light, and zoom, a car drove right through
the light with me barely about to enter the interesection. It was a
life chaging moment, as I easily could’ve been hit and dead, and I
always be sure to keep myself in check, and others, when driving in
order to hopefully decrease these chamces of accidents in my own
little way. Though it can be seen as “back seat driving”,
sometimes commenting on your friend or relative’s driving has to be
done, in order to keep them, and yourselves safe. It can be as simple
as telling them to put your seatbelt on, but it is very possible your
little comment, though possibly annoying, will have an effect on
them. Another way, is to demonstrate your own safe driving when
driving with them. Let them remember the different lessons you
learned in Drivers Ed and the consequences they can carry with them.
Make sure to do all the right stuff and lead by example. From
stopping fully at a stop sign to making sure your lights are on.
Overall, the little things you do when driving can rub off on others
so as to be safer yourself and help others to be too, when driving.
While
it can be a soft subject, I have had experience of family and friends
driving irresponsibly. One big event happened when I was really
young, in first grade, and from when my dad used to drink. One night
he went out. Got drunk, and got pulled over and charged with a DUI
and got his liscense revoked for a year. He has been sober for 10
years now, but during the time I didn’t understand why his liscense
got taken away. I rode my bike to school every day for a year with my
dad, and only truly understood why once I went to drivers ed. It was
a rough time mentally and physically for us all in the family and was
what finally caused my dad to get drinking. Drivers Ed teaches the
exact consequences of driving irresponsibly so as to avoid this as
much as possible. My dad, growing up in a small town in Wisconsin,
didn’t get the big emphasis on drunk driving and it was very common
there too. With proper drivers ed, he might’ve been able to know
the consequences better and the whole impact of his actions. Along
with this, I had a friend lose their priveledge to get their license
because they drove by themselves before they even got a permit.
Drivers Ed helps to teach us the perils overall and to get started
driving, which she could’ve if she had even gone to Drivers Ed.
Drivers Ed is a door into the world of driving and preapers us
greatly in order to be ready for the road.
Overall,
you need a lot of preparation to be ready to drive, and Drivers Ed
prepares you greatly for it all. From the rules of the road, to
keeping safe from other reckless drivers. When I went to drivers ed I
learned the dangers of drunk driving, driving the speed limit, and
watching for insurance scammers. I learned a lot overall, and know no
matter how much I know about safety, others might not. Drivers Ed is
very important to any new driver, and teaches how to keep yourself
and others safe. All in all, Drivers ed is necessary to educate
drivers and keep as many people as they can safe, as it can be a
matter of life or death.
