Texting
while driving is a humorless issue that today’s generation is
unaware of. Texting while driving results in more than 1.6 million
crashes per year. Teenagers are simply unaware of the effects of
texting while driving until catastrophic damage is done. In order to
preserve and to keep others from harms way, a plan must be made in
order eliminate and to educate teenagers that currently text while
they drive. Each year around five thousand people within the United
States die from a person that simply decided to pay more attention to
their phone rather than focusing on the road. Someone’s mother,
father, sister, brother, grandmother, grandfather and so many others
can die as a result of one faulty mistake, looking on one’s cell
phone. Every person comes from somewhere, each has a family that
cares for them, nobody would like to be at fault for their death. To
eliminate the death of others as well as yourself, I propose that
phones should be out of sight the entire time while driving. Keeping
your phone in a glove compartment, a trunk or the backseat will
eliminate a person need to check their phone as soon as they hear a
notification. If a person doesn’t think that their phone should be
away from them, a way to prevent crashes is to turn their ringer off
and to place their phone face down to attempt to eliminate their need
to check to see who could be trying to reach them. At the moment it
might seem to be an emergency to text that person back, it is not
worth the loss of someone’s life or quite possibly your own. If
each person kept their phone away from them while driving, the deaths
of hundreds of innocent people would be saved. By taking away a
person phone, the likelihood of a crash would decrease tremendously.
Driving is like sports, the person that comes home intact is the only
one that counts.
