Drivers ed to the Rescue
Drivers
Education to the Rescue
Driver’s
education is an essential aspect for a beginner driver. Drivers
education gives the driver an educational insight on driving before
they get behind the wheel. As a matter of fact, every state has its
own form of drivers ed. Some states even include driver’s
education as part of their education curriculum. Hence, the
importance of drivers ed is essential not only to the
government but to schools.
The
importance of drivers ed in reducing the number of deaths as a
result of driving is crucial for reducing the number of fatalities on
roads. As a teenage driver who received countless hours of driver
education, I can say that if I did not receive drivers ed, I
would not be as cautious as I am. Drivers ed provides drivers
with instructions on safety, precautions, rules, and regulations on
how to drive. Drivers ed is a course everyone should have to
do to learn about driving and the dangers/accidents that could happen
to make sure the driver is aware and cautious while driving.
Steps
that can be taken to reduce the number of death related to driving,
although simple, can drastically reduce the amounts of accidents that
occur. Some of those steps include avoiding distractions, obeying the
law, and driving hands free. By avoiding trying to read billboards
and unnecessary signs, we can keep our focus on the road while being
cautious of how we are driving. Also, obeying simple laws such as not
passing double lines can help prevent accidents from happening.
Lastly, avoiding texting and talking while driving can drastically
help reduce the number of accidents that occur.
I
have had a minor incident where I was hit from the rear driver’s side
while I was attempting to drive onto a freeway. Although it was
small, I panicked, and I had no idea what further steps to take.
While panicking, I attempted to call my parents. They advised me to
move to a safer area and call the police to make a report. Although
it is common sense to pull over and report accidents, anxiety can
cause one to blank. Unfortunately, I was a victim of fear and anxiety
which led me to take the blame for the accident. I had believed that
I had caused the accident, but after I saw the damage and understood
what had happened, I realized that I was not at fault. The opposing
driver’s irresponsibility led me to accept blame for someone else’s
carelessness. Relating my experience with drivers ed, I can
say that if I did not receive proper drivers ed, I would not
have been all right that day.
Specific
steps that I can take to be a better and safer driver are to avoid
distractions and obey all laws, even the laws that almost every one
disobeys, such as switching lanes. At the same time, there are double
lines or distracted driving as when most people drive while being on
their phones. Lastly, if one is listening to music, keeping it at a
low volume, and not allowing it to be distracting. Finally, driving
at the speed limit and being cautious not to go over the speed limit
can help prevent accidents.
In
conclusion, the importance of driving education can help reduce
deaths and help us drivers take precautions steps to help reduce the
number of deaths and accidents we have every day. Not only can
drivers ed provide safety tips and precaution, but it can help
us stay safe on the road.
