To Be Aware

Drivers ed significantly
reduces the amount of deaths and car crashes in comparison to those
drivers who did not receive this same education. A good driver can be
described as someone who is aware. He/she must be aware of their
surroundings at all times. He/she must be aware of all driver laws
and the consequences if they are not followed. He/she must be aware
of the danger of being a careless driver. To be aware is to be
educated, and drivers ed classes do just that. I believe that
requiring these classes to every single driver in
person would reduce
the number of deaths related to driving. Although Joshua’s Law is
already required, it is eligible to be completed online, and I think
this class would be more effective as an in-person class where
students are forced to pay attention. This is especially important to
me, because one year ago I almost lost a sibling due to a car
accident; however, his accident was a consequence of his own reckless
driving. I believe to help others become a better driver themselves,
I need to set an example of what a good, aware driver should look
like. Drive safe. If not for yourself, do it for the people who do
not want to lose you. Do it for the others around you who are loved
and do not deserve to be taken away from their own family and
friends. Be cautious, be safe, and be an AWARE driver.
