Driving Education Should Be Updated

Driver
education is key to reducing the number of driving-related deaths.
Teenagers and adults should allocate time leading up to their
learner’s permit test and their driver’s license test to study
the driver’s manual and take practice tests. I had the privilege of
learning how to drive from my mom. However, others may not have this
option. Some parents are too fearful or too busy to teach their kids
how to drive so they enroll their kids in a driver’s course. The
teachers of a driver’s course should be patient and
detail-oriented. Up-to-date materials should be used when teaching
driving courses. If courses could relate to my tech-savvy peers,
teenagers could take driving seriously. Also, videos should be shown
of victims from alcohol-related accidents. This could influence young
drivers not to drive while intoxicated. Additionally, driving courses
should be taught in a way that helps all learners. For instance, I
had to watch videos of parking to understand the concept.

Measures
could be taken to decrease driving-related deaths.
A
2015 study
found
that installing ignition interlock would decrease 85% percent of
alcohol-deaths on US roads, which is the leading cause of accidents.
In a different light, distracted driving is the leading cause for
driving accidents. If all distracted driving fines were at least
$250, the number of car accidents might decrease. However, this
practice won’t reprimand all the drivers who are in the wrong.
Drivers should take safety precautions. When you are at a red light,
you
should utilize the time adjust air conditioning, heating, music, and
grab other objects. Drivers should play their music low enough to
hear outside traffic. People should avoid driving drowsy.
Nevertheless, some people work night shifts and should take an
energetic drink to keep them awake during their drive. Of course,
don’t be in deep thought while driving or look alongside the road.

I
have the experience of being in a car accident. I was about 5 years
old, too young to remember all the details. I recall my dad hitting
the back of a building. This accident occurred because my dad was
driving in the wrong lane and had to swerve out of the road to
collide with a building in order to avoid the car speeding towards
us. I am thankful that me, my dad, and my brother were safe after the
accident.

I’ve seen my family members driving
irresponsibly such as texting while driving or not using their turn
signal. I make sure that I practice being a safe driver Before I
start driving,. I turn on my music playlist at low volume and place
my phone far away from me. I drive at the speed limit or five miles
per hour below the speed limit. This rule changes depending on the
traffic situation. I drive two car lengths away from the car ahead of
me. There is much more to practicing safe driving. My parents trust
me to drive their car so I make sure that I am responsible.
