Safe Driving Equals Safe Living

Driving Equals Safe Living

Driving
is all about making safe decisions. You have to know when it is okay
to turn right on red. You have to watch around you when you are at a
four-way stop in order to know when you can go. You have to watch the
car in front of you and make sure that you are a safe distance from
them in case you have to step on your brakes suddenly. A lot of
people taking driving for granted and do not even think about the
lives at stake if they do not make the right and safe decisions. You
could easily ruin someone’s life or even kill someone by simply
turning too late or driving too fast or too slow. Driving is
something that needs to be taught and taken seriously. People are
less likely to make rash decisions when they know the rules of the
road and are taught about safety. Less car trouble and car crashes
means that the number of deaths will decrease. Car crashes can be
easily avoided. The driver can make sure to look in their mirrors
before changing lanes. They can adjust their mirrors so that they can
see behind them. They can keep both hands on the wheel at all times.
There are many steps that can be taken to reduce automobile related
deaths. Once when I was about five years old and my sister was three
years old, my mother was hit by another car from behind. The woman in
the other vehicle had been turned away from the road, trying to get
her kids in the back seat to behave and hit us from behind because
she was not paying attention. Luckily, the airbag saved my mom from
having any serious injuries. She had gotten a bloody nose, I got a
cut on my forehead and my baby sister was fine, besides crying her
eyes out. We were all a little shaken but luckily we were fine.
Whenever I drive, I make sure to remember that I have my life in my
hands as well as the life of my passengers and those around me. I
make sure to be cautious when getting on and off the highway. I stay
focused on the roads and make sure to keep a safe distance between me
and the car in front of me. I turn my blinker on whenever it is
necessary and I stop at every stop sign. I make sure to be a safe
driver and I hope that others do the same because lives are at stake.
Thank you for reading my essay and considering me for this
scholarship! I hope you have a wonderful day and…drive safely! 🙂
