drivers ed essay

When
it comes to driving it is very important to be educated on not only
the mechanics of driving, but the rules of the road. Knowing the
rules of the road is important because it is universal. You can learn
various ways of how to drive a car (manual, stick shift, etc.), but
the rules of the road will always be the same no matter what kind of
car you are driving. Knowing the rules of the road can be the
difference between life and death. Some steps that can be taken to
reduce the number of driving related deaths include paying attention
when you are driving on the road, limiting cell phone usage while
driving, avoiding driving intoxicated, not driving if you are
visually impaired, and using signals. These are very important things
to consider while driving. If you cannot pay attention to the road,
you should not be on the road. Removing distractions in the vehicle
is very important. Cell phone usage is a major cause of car
accidents. Leaving your phone on do not disturb or trying a
hands-free feature can be an easy way to keep your phone out of your
hands while driving. You should never drive under the influence. If
you plan on being intoxicated, a designated driver should always be
present and sober. Visually impaired people should never drive if
they do not have the proper prescribed glasses or contacts. It is
also very important to use your signals when turning or switching
lanes while driving. This lets the car behind you know what you are
doing. This is also a reason why a lot of accidents occur on the
road.

I
have been in over 5 car accidents in my life and was recently hit by
a car. All of these accidents were caused by drivers who were either
on the phone, texting, or speeding. Unfortunately for me this has
affected me and some of my friends in a negative way, leaving us with
permanent pain and lots of debts. A good way to become a better
driver and to help others is to take driving classes. Defensive
driving courses are very helpful and important for young people. It
is important to know and follow the rules of the road and to make
sure that your friends and family follow them as well. Reminding
someone to buckle up, use their signals, and offering to be a
designated driver could really make a difference and maybe save
someone’s life.
