Driving Safely is Our Responsibility

Driving has become
so common in humans’ daily lives, it has become a necessity to
learn how to drive. Learning how to drive does not mean becoming
familiar with a car’s ignition key, accelerator pedal, and a brake
pedal. The only ideal way to implement driving a vehicle into humans’
source of transportation is to undergo certified drivers ed
classes and demonstrate a proficient understanding of how to operate
a vehicle on the road. Drivers ed is key to decreasing the rate
of fatal accidents when driving because it ensures that every single
person who is driving in public is not a threat to others or himself.
Drivers ed teaches individuals the traffic rules that should be
followed precisely. The Traffic Manual is not just a manual that
teaches drivers how to do simple maneuvers when approaching turns,
lane switching and entering highways, it prepares all who wish to
acquire a license to be adequately informed on how to make the right
decisions in several possible circumstances to avoid accidents. Very
few take drivers ed seriously. Driving in a straight line is
easy, even for toddlers, the real issue arrives when someone who has
not received the proper drivers ed encounters unusual
circumstances with pedestrians, road hazards, or other vehicles. A
good driver will know he/she will never be fully safe while inside a
vehicle; nonetheless, diminishing the possibilities of collisions is
as important as saving the lives of thousands of people every year.
To reduce the number of deaths in car accidents due to poor driving
could be to have more traffic patrols. Today, new drivers are often
influenced by the behavior of other poor drivers. This creates a
larger population of people exceeding speed limits and driving
aggressively. If Law enforcement placed harsher regulations by adding
technological devices that can monitor traffic, detect
reckless/improper driving, and issue tickets, people would drive
cautiously to avoid the consequences. As someone who recently did his
6 hours of driving school and got a license, I am aware of why one
must precisely follow the driving manual. I experience my dad making
semi stops at stop signs, illegal U-turns and his main excuse is that
cops are not present and that we are in a hurry. I have shown my
strong opposition against his actions because nothing could be more
important than my family’s safety when we are on board. I attempt to
be a safer driver and encourage others to follow the California State
traffic laws by educating my friends who are unfamiliar with driving.
Failing my first behind the wheel test allowed me to reflect on my
mistakes and become the ideal driver for the safety of others and
myself. Today, driving gives me the freedom to drive anywhere I would
like. I wouldn’t change this for anything and I take responsibility
to advise others to drive carefully. Life is not worth losing for our
foolish actions.
